Funny how so many got their knickers in a twist about Arteta’s touchline antics which essentially amounted to trying to direct and encourage his team whilst being quite animated and doing it outside his technical area by a yard or so on occasion……all of these people obviously forgetting the behaviour of Jurgen Klopp on multiple occasions, today he celebrates aggressively in the face of the 4th official. I struggle to think of anyone worse on the touchline and yet it was Arteta who copped all the flak. Bizarre

You know Klopp was booked right?

Yes, but he should have been sent off and banned. What he did to the 4th official is far worse than any touchline behaviour Arteta has done but yet Arteta’s behaviour was headline news and widely debated for weeks.
Richard Keys (I know I know!) even suggested Arteta’s touchline behaviour was to blame for Ramsdale being kicked by the spurs fan!

Ornstein confirmed Charlie Patino will be sold this summer. I think we as fans invest far more in to the hopes of our youth team than is realistic. As we get more successful the chances of young players even making the 1st team squad let alone the first team are minuscule. We need to be smart with loans, raise profile and sell for profit. We may even take smaller fees if we can agree but back clauses. Lots of top teams do this now. Lavia at Saints is highly sought after now, more so if Saints get relegated, City sold him for £12m and have a £40m buy back. They may not want it but the reality is usually if you genuinely do want the player back he’ll probably cost you less with his buy back than his market value

This season has shown to players that we can be a serious elite club, which is something that would have certainly been in doubt for a number of years. We’ll always have hundreds of players want to join us but can we attract the real top end players who are highly sought after? I think this season and being back in the CL massively helps. Players see how Arteta has a system that improves players.
Players that ‘rejected’ us last summer when we were a 5th placed team will look at us very differently now. Such is the strength of the premier league, plus the poor finances across most of Europe plus more and more players running down their contracts mean there are a huge number of options available to us this summer. There is a real chance to make a statement summer and push us on again.

From reports it appears Saliba out for rest of games this season. Back injury not much improved.

This summer is big for us, we need to be able to get the first choice targets through the door. The plan B’s have been impressive but we’ve a long list of first choices we haven’t managed to get, Vlahovic, Martinez, Raphinha, Mudryk, Caicedo

Time to get any surgery that might have been required and get him fit for next season. And get him to sign the new deal…..and strengthen that position in the summer. We can’t find ourselves just 2 injuries in defence away from disaster. Especially with Tomiyasu’s injury record.

If Saliba had been injured at the start of the season we’d be struggling to make top 4 I think. We’ve coped with injuries in other areas but CB and CM are the two most vulnerable areas of our squad

I want us to beat Chelsea badly. If we only win one game for the remainder its this one. Next, I'd like us to beat Newcastle away. It's a very hard feat to accomplish and I'd like to see us test just how good we are.

I'd like to us to beat Brighton but a draw will suffice for me. The rest as long as we don't lose.

Anyone else concerned by the Chelsea game. Highlights of their recent losses show their problem is failure to convert chances not create them.

Saw this online
There are 77 players in the big 5 leagues on £200k per week or more.

All but 3 are owned by one of the Big 6 or by PSG, Madrid, Barça, Atletí, Bayern, or Juventus.

Putting players on those wages means you have a very limited pool to sell to if you require

Also concerned about whether we can regain our intensity now after the disastrous last few weeks. The mindset has to be 'if we win this we go top again' rather than something akin to the Spanish sailors after the Armada started going pear-shaped.

Fat Sam in charge of Leeds. I no longer want Leeds to do well. I'll never forget that game in 2003 that cost us the title. Fat Sam with the help of the referee kicked us off the park. I always suspected the reason he hated Wenger above all was because he felt Wenger's success made foreign managers the choice by top clubs and thereby impeded him from managing one of the top clubs.

Need both Saliba and Tomiyasu fit for CL next season. Strengthening midfield and getting another good forward in the summer is a vital necessity. Rotation is key given the added comps for next season.

With the squad as it stands the first 11 is very much the first 11, after that you want at least 7-8 players who can slot in without missing a beat or any drop in quality. We have maybe 1-3 players who can do this in specific positions (depending on your opinion)
Trossard, Tomiyasu, Tierney

Then we have players who can step in and do a good job but you might notice in tough games or if too many have to play
Nketiah, Jorginho, Emile Smith Rowe

Then some squad players who are either not tested enough yet, need time or need moving on
Turner, Kiwior, Holding, Elneny, Vieira, Nelson

In terms of squad strengthening we need 3/4 more in group 1 and 3/4 fewer in group 3.

The best way to do that is sign players who can fit in to the first 11. Declan Rice is a great example. Sign Rice and a player like Partey or Xhaka moves in to that first category.

In hindsight, it appears to me no one was going to beat a team that hasn't dropped points since mid February. I wouldn't call it a 'collapse'. 2002, Liverpool played great down the stretch and in any other season would have won the title. Was it 13 straight we won? Or whatever. No one beats that kind of form.

harsh on Martinelli. In all honesty Saka and Jesus should have probably been benched before him

And very harsh on Tierney. Jesus, Saka and Zinchenko are clearly players Arteta does not like to drop.

Aubameyang starts for Chelsea for the first time in goodness how long - always feels like ex players and specifically ex players out of form are prime for bagging a goal against us

Trossard deserves to start but I can't help but think Martinelli with his direct dribbling and pace up against Azpilicueta would be a total miss-match

Yes, and he's happy using his right foot even when he could use his left for simple short passes - that may seem minor but far too often players force themselves on their favoured foot all the time.

Kiwior is playing as the right sided CB

Ødegaard makes that finish look so much easier than it is. You see many pro's miss kick that with their standing foot.

First time side foot helping it on on its way, the pace is already on the ball from the cross. top class
