In these sorts of wet conditions I never understand why players aren't shooting along the ground rather than looking for the top corners

Why do Brighton look so much sharper than us?

We've really been struggling with their press all game. Not sure what the answer is, but we need to give ourselves more time on the ball.

Sometimes with teams who are so well drilled at the press you just have to accept that you can't play through it and go a bit more direct

Aubameyang needs to be replaced. He looks knackered.

We're not looking any better than we did in the first half.

Lovely one touch stuff - Emile Smith Rowe could have nicked it

That's a good chance, need to do more things like that with Brighton pressing on.

Lacazette's a better fit the way we play think Aubameyang needs some time on the bench.

AMN or Martinelli for Saka. Saka is knackered.

This game is not going to live long in the memory. Rather like visual mogadon.

Decent point in difficult circumstances. Rode our luck no doubt but don’t let the doom mongers fool you,we missed the best chance of the game.

The commentators were desperate for Arsenal to lose that.

Uninspiring.

Saka and Smith Rowe good, Lokonga solid enough.

Could have been one of those games where we folded, but we didn’t.

Small steps.

A lot of teams will come to Brighton and struggle, but you have to say that's a poor performance from us. Couldn't get any rhythm going all game, and we had no answer to Brightons pressing and intensity.

Thanks on Moss, play well over the 93 minutes while Brighton attack and then blow the whistle as Arsenal break.

0-0 will have to be a point gained than 2 points lost. Brighton are an impressive team, we weren't at the races

We were second best all night. Got away with a point so it could have been worse.

Fair point earned. We don't deserve anything more from today's game.

That was a great point because we were shite and Brighton wasted some fantastic opportunities.

A disappointing, some might say lacklustre, performance that raised more questions than it provided answers.

Emile Smith Rowe top performance in difficult conditions.

Saka good, Gabriel and White decent. Ramsdale made a couple of good saves. Not much else to say really.

Brighton the netter team but how often did they really trouble Ramsdale? Did he have to make any really good saves - there was the palm out of the cross at the end that was very good. But if we'd played at home as brighton did and didn't fashion clear cut chances with all the possession and dominance they had there would be plenty of Arsenal fans saying we didn't deserve to win because we didn't hurt the opposition enough. It took Brighton until the 80th minute to have a shot on target.

Important not to lose that though going in to the 2 week international break. 2 weeks for Arteta to coach an intensive press that Brighton displayed today.

Most Arsenal fans wouldn't swap any of Brighton's players with ours but they were impressive

Surely not. We're at home to Palace, I'd expect us to dominate possession and territory and Palace playing mainly on the counter.

Unless you were suggesting by the Palace game being similar that we'd be taking on the Brighton role and Palace the Arsenal role :laughing7:

First time I’ve watched Brighton this season. A back 3 of Dunk, Duffy, Burn are not the trio you would be confident holding a high line and playing out from the back, but Potter has a system where it works.

Coming back to stats, last year Brighton were a clinical striker away from being a top 6 club based on expected goals, from box to box they are generally very very good, they just struggle the finish.

Looking at our next 4 away, Leicester, Liverpool, Man U, everton…..we need to be taking maximum points from the next 4 at home, palace, villa, watford, Newcastle

To be fair socrates, Arteta has spent £90m on our three central midfielders today (Partey £45m, Lokonga £15m, Ødegaard £30m) in the last twelve months. I think it’s reasonable to say he has addressed that area of the pitch.

Hi Bernard,

I was talking about changing something in today's game. I thought our midfield was poor and failed to function as it needed to to give us a proper foothold in the game. Partey, Ødegaard and Lokonga were all pretty poor for most of the game.

Lokonga kept dropping into a left back position, presumably under instruction to cover Tierney's forward runs, but it left us light in midfield.
