I would ask when the ref looked at the replay what additional information did he obtain to change his decision. The decision was made by var. you can argue the onfield ref should have given a red on the pitch, but when he doesn’t I don’t think var can get involved as a clear and obvious error

Martinelli on and stick him on the halfway line. A must

If we don’t do this we are *%^@*** stupid. We need to win this

Jarred Gillet is not allowed to officiate any Liverpool game because he supports them, he is also not allowed to officiate in Everton games….Liverpool and Everton haven’t been genuine rivals for 40 years, but yet Liverpools genuine rivals for the title can have Gillet ref them

The point about additional information is well made. Ref had a clear view and gave a yellow. It's obvious now that it has become easy to give red cards against Arsenal. Shades of the early Wenger years when the red card count was constantly quoted.

Just a yellow card for Konsa’s foul on Saka

It may well have been the ‘correct’ decision, but I bet the VAR ‘review’ wouldn’t have happened to City or Liverpool.

It’s inconsistent bollux.

So after Howard Webb told us refs consider game state when deciding whether to yellow card a player for delaying the restart what will the ref do here? Game state is a draw, but the favourites are down to 10 men, which team is trying to win the game more?

It isn't. A clear red all day long.

Ideal scenario, apart from the obvious we win 5-0, is a late goal for us for 1-0. The moment we score you know we’ll enact a rear guard that Custer himself would be proud of. Rather do that for 10 minutes than 30.

Perhaps he could take you as an example and watch it like a needlessly disrespectful prick?

Whining about every decision and claiming we are singled out for special treatment is watching it like a baby.

It’s probably some bollocks about assessing a red so clear and obvious doesn’t come into it. I bet it’s that.

When it goes to VAR the ref always bottles it.

You can’t really say it’s clear and obvious

I would say it just was clear and obvious. The only mitigating circumstance was the distance from goal, and that isn't enough.

And agreeing with everything that goes against us is watching it like a Totts fan.

What about Ben white being there?

We’ve done ok with 10 but we’re not able to offer much going forward. Martinelli seems a must soon depending how fit he is. Nwaneri as well, he has the technique to keep hold of the ball.
We need a moment of individual brilliance or a set piece

Martinelli. Gives us a bit of hope.

Distance from goal is one of the 4 key considerations when judging a ref card for denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity. So definitely 1 out of 4 boxes not ticked because he’s still in the centre circle

We should be 1-0 up then Bournemouth score a similar but slightly more difficult chance from a similar position

Good goal, one has to say.

Even before the sending off, we were sh&te, with Rice just about the only bright spark. I think Martinelli's effort was the first on target for us.

Just a terrible day at the office, as they say.

Honestly the number of technical decisions we are allowed zero leeway on is crazy. Foul throw now. Ben white booked for delaying the restart at a throw.

Despite our pretty good results up to this point, absolutely nothing has come easy this season.

I don’t think it’s far fetched to say we could easily have won every game in the prem if we’d been given the benefit of the doubt on some key decisions. The kind City always get given the benefit for.

For a moment I thought Raya was going to be sent off. Anything seems possible in this run of freak red cards.

Hopefully Saka will be back for Liverpool :sad4:

Bizarre season that feels like we haven’t really had the chance to get going. Grinded out some big away wins in a style that we don’t usually play and have had 3 red cards in 8 games and a host of crucial injuries.

8 games in and it doesn’t feel like I can say much about the season because the circumstances of so many games have been so strange

The kind of game that costs you the title - and that’s not dramatic we’ve seen what it takes and dropping 3 points here is huge in the title race
