Steve Braddock, the groundsman, passing away today is reported on Arsenal.com. Very sad. He was at the hospice where my wife is a nurse, although he died at home. Thierry Henry often phoned him, which cheered him up.

RIP Steve B

Heartwarming to know of Henry's good heart

If Arsenal want Tielemans then the only reasons I can think for not getting him yet is we felt we could get a much, much cheaper deal at the end of the window because Tielemans only has 1 year left on his deal.

Isn't the obvious reason we haven't signed Tielemans is because he'll be available on a free next year? We have cover in midfield if Partey or Xhaka are injured so why not wait for a reasonable fee or leave it till this time next year, or maybe even next transfer period.

Seen this comment attributed to Arteta. Can’t vouch for its authenticity but I hope he said it. After previously being massively against the KSE ownership regime, I’m fast changing my mind.

Mikel Arteta on the Kroenkes: "I think the commitment and desire of this ownership is without a question or doubt as good as I’ve seen in football, so it’s great to see as well that now there is a little bit of change in that talk."

"They’re on it, they want to take this club to a completely different level. They have the ambition and it’s clear, there is so much evidence that they’re giving us all the support we need in order to do that."

Hi Rich. How much cheaper do you think we’ll get Tielemans for at the end of the window? £5m, so £20m instead of £25? Personally I’d be surprised if it would go down £10m to £15m because there will be a point when Leicester say ‘we might as well keep him and risk losing him for nothing next summer’ (as Arsenal were doing with Nketiah last season). Particularly if Rodgers thinks keeping him will improve Leicester’s chances of having a decent season.

If Leicester are on the point of bankruptcy, a dramatic fall from £25m may be more likely to keep them afloat. But while they’re not a massively rich club, I’ve not seen anything to suggest they’re as destitute or penny less as that.

Moreover, just sitting back and playing this waiting game to get him a few million cheaper opens up the possibility of other clubs moving in to sign him. Does a saving of £5m (if it’s going to be £20m instead of £25m) make that risk worthwhile to a club of Arsenal’s size and wealth?

Otherwise, are we the only club Tielemans will consider joining, to make us safe from others stepping in? Sorry but I just can’t see it.

Jesus has had 26 touches in the opposition box in 2 games this season. For context Lacazette had 31 touches in his 20 league starts last year

Arsenal spoke to Leicester in may apparently and were told the price for Tielemans is 42 -50 million quid. Contrary to what was reported in the press. Leicester are not easy to negotiate with at all we know this from James Maddison and they only let their players go for huge money just look at fofana.

Made sense to wait because Leicester have to compromise at some point hence they cant even risk playing him today. Remember the articles about Arsenal looking at other options ( clearly deliberately leaked )

I’m not saying we will sign him (it feels ripe for him to end up at Man united they are desperate) but waiting is part of the game sometimes if you are talking about a 20 million pound saving. Remember Partey, linked all summer signed on the last day of the window.

Yes it’s a game of poker sometimes. I also do get the feeling though that if it meant spending 40 million quid rather than 25 then we might prefer to sign other players if it’s that much. Maybe a winger or paqueta or who knows

I agree with you, I was just putting out a possible reason why. I think any discount for being the back end of the window is minimal. Also Arsenal have played their cards very close to their chest this summer, even the big in the know journalists have said as such. So it wouldn’t surprise me if Tielemans wasn’t the primary target, but at the same time his profile does chime with the transfers we’ve been making. Prem ready and short contract length

My utter utter dislike for Spurs, kane son et Al knows no bounds.
How many times are those *%^@ going to get them out of jail. They are an ordinary side but infuriatingly will kerp winning these type of games because of their forward line.
Seen this type of game from spurs so many *%^@*** times.

So far not seen anything indicating MA doesn't fancy Tielemans. Only see Arsenal stiil interested. Not certain what Edu's personal stance is though. Thought only terms were agreed with Leicester, but no formal bid made, except cost range is £25M thereabouts. Have seen indications that Edu is looking at another Brazilian, Lucas Paquetá from Lyon though, who's a midfielder.

But if Arteta wanted him, why hasn’t he been recruited yet? It just doesn’t make sense. He’s been available all summer so how trustworthy are all the reports linking us with him? £25m is easily affordable.

What terms have been agreed with Leicester if no formal offer has been made? The transfer fee is surely the main thing to sort out with Leicester. So why has no offer been made if Arteta really does want him?

Terms referring to wages, add- ons possibly. Recently read that Tielemans is still a top priority, yet if no initial deal is agreed, then Lucas Paqueta is being considered.
Really £25M isn't a bad amount for a deal if that is what Leicester initially expect. Anything can happen obviously. Under 2 weeks to go still and a few players need to be off loaded, if that's what the plan is prior to bringing in needed targets.

Unchanged. Arteta really doesn’t like changing it.

Personally I’d have given Tierney a run. Seems like his type of game. Away smaller ground difficult atmosphere , more of a battle. Use the squad a bit.

Tielemans came on as a sub for Leicester today so he was in the squad. Is it feasible he was dropped from the starting eleven following his dismal performance at the Emirates last weekend?

I still think Saka was burnt out at the end of last season and it looks like he doesn't think so. Unless he gets a grip on rotating players throughout the season our hopes could take a dive.

Somebody have a word with the Boss.

Everyone was burnt out at the end of last season but no way could we have dropped anyone at that point

Occupied 3 defenders on his own.

Play we haven’t seen since Alexis Sanchez. An absolute steal at 45 million. Total robbery

Good to see White bombarding forward instead of square passing

Edit: and then he gives one away :42laughter:

Must be all to do with camera angles. So deceptive. I was sure that was going to be chalked off. Happy days.
