Somehow we're ahead :21encouragement:
But we're going to need an improvement in the second half to keep it that way.

If I came home and found Saka with the missus I'd ask him if he needed anything else.

I really hope Mikel changes this though.

Get Tierney on and push Tommy to the right. Will be more balanced

Xhaka has been poor. They just manoeuvre around him. I always think he seems to struggle againest Liverpool

At that point Arteta would have probably been keen to get us in at 1-1 and reset us to go again - what a bonus to be 2-1 up.

Liverpool gave us a serious test for the 2nd half of that half, they were better than us - so yes we may not deserve it but how many times have we been told that its goals that count and you have to be clinical - possession doesn't win matches. We've killed them with 2 counter attacks. Just keep getting the ball to Martinelli

When the midfield get the ball they are taking too many touches. Slicker passing required. The Liverpuddle defence can be got at.

Hope Arteta fixes the gaps. Worrisome when they get through our midfield so easily.

For all their possession they only really looked like scoring for the goal. A lot of sideways passing and long balls.

'Pool found their rhythm the last 15 to 20 minutes of that half. They were looking the same dangerous side, their left flank was giving us fits as well. We'll have to get that sorted.

On the other hand, it makes it slightly less jarring when we concede.

Winning 2-1 but a very poor performance in all honesty. Lacking composure on the ball, too slow in possession.

Something needs to change in the centre of the park. Partey is off his game and Ødegaard is a passenger. Not sure we've got anyone on the bench who can dominate in the centre of the park though.

These are the types of games where Ødegaard has to do better.

Partey needs to get hold of the midfield.
Gabriel is a bit of a worry at the back.

We were a bit lucky to get away with Gabriel’s handball. Definitely in the category of ‘seen them given’ and I’d be shouting for that for sure

Martinelli.

I said it at the beginning of the season. The lad is going to hit the heights this season.

Just get the best fullbacks playing in their natural positions.

Martinelli has played so well that Trent is subbed off at half time and replaced by Joe Gomez

edit: and the ankle injury he picked up :42laughter:

Martinelli causing havoc again. Ødegaard should have scored.

What is this standing in front of freekicks b%*&s%*^?? You’ve got to get 10 yards. We should be seeing 2 yellow cards a game for this.

Decent start to the second half, more intensity.

Good start here, causing them a lot of trouble early on

Gomez very lucky there. He handballed it when Jesus could have been through but he's saved by an earlier offside

There is a number 9 hiding in Martinelli.

2-2 - always Firminho.

We've been far too sloppy here. Both teams will think they can win this with attacks looking far better than defences for both sides

It’s what is often termed ‘a game for the neutrals’.
