This is how we need to play when we are goal up. Sitting back is just not a great plan.

So Diaz gets a couple of warnings for delaying play before he gets a yellow?

Brilliant delivery that.

Merino is a real weapon on those.

:22encouragement:

Now lets keep the foot down!

That’s a brilliant half of football, totally dominant against a very good side.

Because VVD was the one playing Merino onside and it is generally not permitted to give any decision against VVD.

I thought Thomas Partey was superb in that first half.

Can we keep it up and avoid the trap of sitting back? Partey has been excellent, as has Trossard.

The thing is, I don't think Mikel views sitting back as a trap. We could be in for some horribly nerve-shredding tactics in the second half.

Later on watch the yellow card van der ven got for spurs for fouling the palace player as he’s running through on goal, no fellow defender within 20 yards and the palace player is only 30 yards from goal. The clearest red you’ll see but we’ll all be gaslit telling us various gymnastics of the law of why a yellow was correct

To be fair it was very tight so they had to be sure but it also had to be quicker

Hanging on a bit. Lacking that snap we had in the first half.

Jesus we are just giving the ball back to them. 20 minutes to go and there isn’t much on the bench

Basically all our defenders are injured now apart from white.

This is mad.

Skelly against Salah. He knows he is in the big time.

Indeed :1cry:

I wonder if we are going to start playing again or continue trying to hang on with what remains of our fingernail?

I don't see the percentage of going into our shells when we are ahead.

Our fault. We have been far too defensive.

Horrible and one just knew we would do that after we scored.

The referee has let a lot go today and to their benefit.

They've been barging havertz over all game with impunity.

Yep. Kai needs to learn how to fall down when tackled. We should get Bobby Pirez in to show him how to when those free kicks.

Rub of the green on these 50/50’s really hasn’t gone our way today.
If Van Dijk was sent off you can defend it in law
If Konate gives away the pen you can defend it in law
If the ref doesn’t penalise that header and our goal stood you could have defended it in law

They are all 50/50 decisions
