Wow, do they find some players.

Being the cheerful little doom and gloom merchant I am , given our results of late I've got serious doubts as to whether we can replicate this years success next year .

I understand why people are saying this but can’t help feel it does a real disservice to what the team achieved this season.

We utterly bashed spurs home and away this season, did Liverpool at home and really should have done them away too. Was unlucky at old Trafford and smashed united home. Really should have beaten Newcastle home and did them away.

Honestly this season we were quite rightly the 2nd best team in the premier league and we won’t be offloading our star players this summer (except maybe saliba). We shouldn’t be viewing next season with any trepidation at all really and I have a feeling that after this summers transfer business there will be some renewed optimism.

I’m relaxed about the possibility of Rice coming. I think he’ll be an Arsenal player come August. I think the rest is just noise.

I am hoping City loses among other reasons is so they don't get anywhere close to 49 games.

Brendon is getting closer by the day.

Honestly destined to be spurs manager. I will piss myself if he goes there

Yes indeed I agree with all you saying BUT I can't get my head around how we play as well as you mention yet on other occasions be so bloody awful . Leeds at their place absolutely massacred us second half even though we won the game ;
Nottingham Forest beat us even though they only had 15% of the ball Brighton at home we weren't even at the races .

That Forest game highlights in particular ; we had 85% of the ball ........... now either they had King Kong in goal or there is something flawed in our approach
eg a supertanker load of sideways , backwards passes this why I have the doubts about our future progression .

Forest and Brighton were meaningless games mate.

Leeds we had won and took our foot off the peddle. Whilst it’s irritating we largely did the business when it mattered and the Margin for error was very small

Hello Kiwi. Hope you are well. The only thing I would say is that ALL teams with the exception of Man City have major off days, and relatively speaking this current young Arsenal side has had surprisingly few. However, the end of season collapse is dissapointing, and no doubt Arteta will be planning to make sure he can avoid such a scenario happening in the same way next season. Yet its interesting that both the Nottingham Forest and Brighton games coincided with the knowledge that this long hard season had effectively ended for us so I can almost rationalise it. Just like the Brighton defeat signaled to the supporters that the title dream was finally over the mass exodus of fans felt almost cathartic. I never leave a match early but I was really tempted that day. Similarly I think the team collectively threw in the towel that day. Leeds was a different thing entirely but perhaps we can chalk that down to the rare occasion where the opposition was simply better than us on the day.

Your memory seems clouded. We scored a last minute goal against Manure at home and they had chances to win that game. We hun g on for dear life at Anfield and the Newcastle game could have been easily 5-5.

Total nonsense. I was at the Man U game and ended 2 rows down when our winner went in. Why ? Because we had them on them on ropes for 20 minutes and even Neville and Keane admitted it. They were totally penned in. It was an impressive performance. Nketiah missed a sitter and saka hit a post. Should have been more it wasn’t a fluke.

Anfield we blew it in the second half and still drew and Newcastle away well we were the better team and nobody would dispute that plus at home we totally dominated and they wasted time like I’ve never seen before so much so I think we did likewise away deliberately

We were comfortably the 2nd best side in the league this year but if people want to be miserable and let the few harder moments cloud an excellent season then they are utter dinlows. Pointing at 20 or 30 minute passages during games when we weren’t in control. Honestly give me a break

Yes, I think we had 25 shots to six that day. A deserved victory.

So it’s Luton then. Should be interesting. I was last there in the early ‘90s and it was comfortably the shittest ground I’ve ever attended, and I’ve been to some dumps.

I have a couple of acquaintances who follow The Hatters and they tell me nothing much has changed at the ground since they were last in the top flight.

Good effort on their part though. No rich owners and no major backers. Don’t know much about them but they must be a well-coached team. Similar story for Cov. Respect to both clubs.

I’ve got a mate who’s a hatter and he and their fans are just as mad as they were in the 80s and 90s :laughing7:

Not much has changed as it’s going to be a lot of fun to have them in the premier league next year

How did we lose this? First of all, Luton's 2nd goal shouldn't have stood. Winterburn's missed penalty should have put the game away but still its 'only' Luton Town?
Lastly, their kits look too much like sperz. I felt as if we lost to them.

Note to DHD

You seen that they are scrapping season ticket cards entirely from next season. Will be all digital

Hmnnn

Call me a Luddite but what can go wrong !

We seem to be moving to a world where they want your entire existence dependent on your mobile phone battery

I only realised that yesterday. I misread the email from the club and thought they were scrapping season tickets for today as a trial run. It will make ticket touting much harder but will also make passing on tickets to family/friends at the last minute ( 3hrs or less from kick off) won’t be possible.

I don’t really know what to make of it. I don’t really use the digital pass just the card. The digital pass on my iPhone is expired actually and when I log onto the app it won’t let me download a new one as it says digital pass not found. Not really a problem for today but next season won’t run without problems I reckon

And yet Xhaka, who is also supposedly off, also starts.

I wonder if it means he sees Partey as an inverted fullback with new signing earmarked for the CM role?

If it's Xhaka's last game for us then a hat trick followed by a red card would make for a legendary exit.

All in all, a fabulous, marvelous season. So many positives, so many highlights, so many pleasures, such hope.

But…….. 5 points.

Where do we go from here? Does the team learn and improve? Is it a missed opportunity that won’t come along for another few years? Will we attract the players we need to close that gap on the money?

That’s football. And it’s the hope that kills.

UTA.

It’s going to be difficult to replicate that points haul but it’s not impossible. My hope would be that we build the squad depth out so we can genuinely compete in 4 competitions next year. Our transfer business this summer will be fascinating

The depressing truth is it’s probably not about about where we go from here but what city do. They just look unstoppable right now and if they strengthen further god knows what happens everyone could be playing for 2nd

I expect to see quite a few of that Leicester team leave this summer. Maddison seems a certainty. Tielemans is available on a free. The best of the lot may be Harvey Barnes, I think a decent prem club, or spurs, will snap him up
