Sterling price is 20 million. Plus his 350k a week. !

he’s going on loan to a turkish or saudi club in the final minute of the window

Your cat is worth more than Sterling was last year and 2 years prior. Absolute vegetable.

In Cunha and Mbeumo Man U have a pair if really tidy players in their forward line, but as a word of caution, neither played in a 3-4-2-1 formation that Amorim likes and they were the two biggest over achievers of their xG last season - are they actually elite finishers of difficult chances or was last season a blip and the return to the norm is next season?

Quite. Especially Mbeumo, who has never scored more the 10 prem goals in a season before.

Also, especially Man United.

I do agree that he is a good player but not cheap at all.

I’m loving how Mam Urd are throwing money around on these players. They still seem to think they’re in the 2 players a transfer window mode. They need a total overhaul. Lol.

Your cat? Didn't know it was up for sale.

I'll offer you £50million in add-ons contingent on the cat successfuly winning me the PL and CL every year for 5 years

Apparently we've shown some interest in someone called Gyökeres.

Not sure if much will happen there though ..

Ok - apologies for the welcome to Chelsea nonsense - watch a bit of this and see who you’d rather - Simons or Eze.

Simons makes more sense to me than Eze to me on a couple of fronts. Younger, reportedly almost 20M cheaper, he reminds me quite a lot of the small technical central players we signed lots of under Wenger - Rosicky, Nasri, Hleb. Different to Eze who seems to have this ability to glide past people centrally and shoot.

Eze is the better emotional fit, London boy, ex Hale end, wants to be here and premier league proven.

I think I’m leaving towards Xavi Simons tbh which is a bit mad when a player like Eze is available.

Partly for Eze at 27 to have your preferred position be left 8 competing with Declan Rice it doesn’t feel like the best use of 68M.

Who would you rather?

It'll be dead by then. Its almost as old as Sterling.

If we did finalise Eze and Gyökeres, what would be our starting lineup?

At Utd? Same as last year with Zubimendi instead of Partey I reckon.

Bench consisting of Kepa, White, Madueke, Gyökeres, Eze, Nørgaard, Merino, Nwaneri, Calafiori.

I’ve sold Trossard and Zinny to Fulham for 35m total, along with loaning them Nelson - and there are no injuries, that’s how you know to take it with a pinch of salt :laughing7:

Mertesacker must have got a youth budget

We finally seem to be doing what city, Chelsea and Liverpool have for ages and recruit other clubs youth talent

Across the club there appears to be a change in our business model. Perhaps it’s dawned on the owners the need to be competitive to attain financial rewards. The money from this years CL run would have caught their attention. Just the money we are prepared to outlay on transfers is so different from other years.

It would be amusing if Arsenal suddenly pivoted (successfully) to Isaak.

Your idea of amusing and my idea of amusing differ. Just find a decent cf who will get us 20+ goals this season.

IMO, Arteta is likely not 100% switched on with this transfer. Otherwise, it would have already been done. Look at how he got Merino & Zubimendi done despite obstacles. I think he still thinks he can win major trophies without a striker.

No. It is because the president of Sporting went back on a verbal commitment and is now trying to save face and make Gyökeres the bad guy to the Sporting fans. He has form.

I want to say you’re wrong, but honestly we don’t exactly know the reasons do we. It’s probably the Sporting president, or is being tight over a couple of million, or whatever you want to believe is the biggest factor. Arteta won’t be part of the process at all atm though. He’s literally on tour.

It’s just the beginning of preseason so still time to get most of the signings up and running at full speed before the Utd away game.
I’m tentatively well up for this season. We’re going to be a major *%^@*** problem for whoever we face.

We narrowly lost to PSG in the semi finals of the champions league, having had the better chances, with a team held together by gaffertape on their hamstrings and a bench made up of tea ladies and children. Upgrade from ‘tentatively’ to ‘really quite’

Do you know what really helps sell new shirts ? Having an actual centre forward at the club. Really assists the marketing process

Xavi Simmons at 55 million quid is remarkably decent value when compared to Ezes release clause at 67.

Will be interesting to see what they do there. He’s a lot younger too.

Reform, much to OMOH’s dismay I’m sure, can’t help self-imploding left right and centre. Farage, whatever he actually thinks, is pure populism. He’s got to be more intelligent than he’s letting on. I wish we could have some grown up conversations in politics.

Veiga signs for Chelsea for £14m, barely kicks a ball for them, goes on loan to Juve for £3m fee for the second half of the season, no great shakes now Atletico want him and Chelsea are asking £35m. I just don’t get it.

Yes. I have to admit to a tiny worry that Arteta thinks that Havertz, Jesus and whoever can cover the CF role.

Interesting article which if true makes the whole deal a little more difficult. If there is a written release clause of 100million Euro then that is the actual agreed price. If the president made a comment about accepting 60 then you would need to know the exact words said as to whether this is even a figure in the negotiations. If he said something like ‘ if we can make 60 million I will accept that’s, what does that mean. 60 million on what they originally paid, 60 million after taxes, 60 million in one installment but with add ons. It seems strange to accept 60 when the release fee is 100.

Of course as others have mentioned Arteta may still want to prove his point that he already has the forward line as was his view last year. Whatever happens the new player needs to be with the squad immediately after Asia or the squad need to know. We don’t need anyone else, just so we can get some fluency.

In the last 2 seasons we’ve put in bids in for Watkins and Sesko. I’m sure the club didn’t do this against Arteta’s wishes.

There are offers and serious offers. It doesn’t matter one iota now. Let’s see what our starting line up is for game one. This is our time. Man City rebuilding, Liverpool doing some rebuilding and will find it hard to have two seasons without injury. No excuses.

Did we consider that Ekitiké as a viable forward. His goal figures are very good for a 23yo and he was in a reasonable league. Liverpool seemed to just pay the price without a protracted process.

Apart from 2024/25, he's averaged about five goals a season. Not exactly stellar.
