Don’t give a silly goal away. Put the season to bed then it’s done.

Has a very end of season feel about it. Players running less, less movement less people taking the initiative.

The only ones looking fresh and brought ideas are Ben white and Dec

Arteta booked for kicking the ball. Que pundits moaning about nothing and now suspended for next week.

Farce

Dear god that is awful from the ref. Arteta tries to kick the ball back to where the throw is, it curls back on the pitch rather than go straight to the thrower and the ref books him.

Dan burn is allowed to throw the ball deliberately at Havertz after he fouled him though.

We are refereed differently

Can someone explain to me what taking off Saka and replacing him with Havertz was meant to achieve? We have no outlet now.

I’m sorry but this ref is so bias. Twice we were clearly bundled over and he didn’t blow. He’s desperate for Newcastle to equalise here. Unbelievable

This referee is urging Newcastle to equalise. He is giving them every chance to get it.

I’m so glad we let Newcastle players know what we thought of them at the end. Went after them after their continuing fouling and rough tactics in the box from the cross and all the afters they’d left in. Thoroughly unlikeable team.

Really hope they’re the ones to miss out on CL

It was so clear. There was maybe 3 in the last 3 mins, all of them would have 100% been given if it was a Newcastle player going down - no doubt in my mind at all.

You could see it with the way he reffed the game in the final 15 it was building.

2nd is secure, we’re not giving up a +10 gd to city. Media have to put a balloon in their Arsenal demise party. Even though we’ve basically given up in the league for the last 8 games we could still walk to 2nd place. Let the scrutiny turn to the group of 4 teams below us now.

He was on my comms and he comes across SO miserable and almost bitter towards Arsenal.

Raya apparently has bad passes to the opposition every week, all that shite.

The tempo definitely went up and we scored as a result of a much better start to the second half.

Newcastle a thoroughly unlikeable team, happy to put it about and leave late ones in but so quick to whinge and moan. So glad we gave it to them just before the final whistle.

The whole Saudi sportswashing thing is brushed over completely. They’re in the same boat as Chelsea and City for me - all 3 have cheated to get where they are and don’t deserve any success they have

Let’s hope Forest and Villa deny two of them CL places
Well done lads

He always was quite positive.

He strikes me as something overly cynical.

If we finally get a proper number 9 I have a feeling Arteta is not done with the Havertz in midfield formation.

He’s better in the left 8 than Merino

Chelsea could be in big trouble. If City win their games and Villa win their final game, they have to win at Forest.

Funny how Newcastle fans only sang ‘2nd again’ after it was confirmed they couldn’t get the 2nd place they were desperate for

So very relieved we are not part of that champions league fight on the final day.
But for Raya in the first half we so easily could have been.
Much better in the 2nd half and so glad to not only tie up champions league qualification but also more or less runners up.
Great goal from Rice.
He's some player.
Can't decide who I dislike the most out of the chasing pack. Hate them but Newcastle could be a serious threat next season.
2 from City Chelsea and Newcastle to miss out on champions league would be fantastic!
Really hope we have a massive transfer window.
Very telling Arteta said at the end its now up to.the people at the top to do their job.

Big decisions needed this summer:

Tomiyasu - I'd get rid if we can get fit

Zinchenko - get rid

Kiwior - keep

Partey - keep

Jesus - get rid if we can get fit

Nelson - get rid

Lokonga - get rid

Vieira - get rid

Tavares - get rid

As with Tierney, Jorginho and Sterling off

That leaves a hell of a lot of space for bringing in some quality players to compete for first XI and to provide depth

Nobody will offer Jesus or Tomiyasu a contract with their persistent injuries. Best you could hope for is loaning them out and covering their wages.

There is something deeply unappetizing about the way we play now, it's just not fun to watch.

Too many sideways and backwards passes, a clear lack of creativity, no real injection of pace and very little end product.

I think we made more progressive forward passes when Calafiori came on than we've done in weeks.

Havertz came on to a warm round of applause but he's pretty workmanlike really, like so many of our forward players he lacks that genuine game-changing ability that gets people off their seats. I mean he's not going to beat 3 or 4 players in a mazy dribble, produce a devastating burst of pace onto a ball in behind or smash one in the top corner from 30 yards.

Please Arsenal board bring in some forward players with genuine game-changing attributes.
