What must teams think. We press teams in to suffocation, we attack them relentlessly with outrageous skill and movement and then when they finally get a breather and a chance to reset from a set piece we are absolutely ruthless from those as well!

Never thought I'd see the day when our corners were a legit threat. I wasn't around for the pre Wenger days. I imagine the famous back 4 were decent at it

6-0, 5-0….4-0 today. Do we hold off to keep the pattern, or go for 6 and a different kind of pattern

Lumbering Dan Burn coming on at left back to mark Saka - bet he’s glad of that

Sure enough Dan Burn’s first involvement is a foul on Saka

Emile Smith Rowe, Nketiah and Nelson on

Ødegaard, Havertz and Saka off. Such luxury to be able to take our best players off

Jorginho is the oldest but I'd like to see Rice with the armband when Ødegaard was subbed off.

The added bonus of these huge scorelines is seeing Reiss-Nelson, Smith-Rowe and others get a decent amount of minutes.

Newcastle have deserved this for November. A travesty of a game where thugs were allowed to rule the roost, and a 1 in a million goal with 4 possible var decisions.

Elneny on for Jorginho. Gabriel now captain.

Jorginho absolutely superb once again. Great ovation from the crowd. Must still stick in Chelsea fans throats they let him go when they thought he was past it

We’re averaging more than 4 goals per game in our last 6. Average conceded is 0.5 goals.

Get the injured players back and bring on that City game

I used to be worried about Jorginho in the lineup early on with us because he's slow. He's proven me wrong. He's very aware. Fabregas lacked pace as well but his awareness was on another level.

A clean sheet would have been nice but happy for Willock. We could have had 5 or 6. I didn't think it was going to be this easy.

With Europe in our legs it was a brave move to decide to try to win that game in 45 minutes. The intensity was incredible with just 2 full days rest

3 of Arteta’s most recent signings who had question marks about them have been brilliant recently. Raya, Havertz and Kiwior.

The talent ID spotting from Edu and Arteta has been incredible for years now

Steady on Rich. If Everton get their points deduction overturned, they could catch us. :icon_mrgreen:

16 goals for Saka, the most he’s had in a season….and for a decent period of this season it felt like he wasn’t on his best form. His ceiling is sky high

Is there another player in the league who can play both as an attacking 8 and a central striker? Earlier in the season there was a big question mark on Havertz, he didn’t seem to effect games enough but at the moment both on and off the ball he’s proving them wrong.

Yeah late kick offs are great ! :14laughter:

Lovely performance today, many good performances but for me I thought Havertz was superb. Won many aerial duels, held the ball up well, pressed. I even forgive him for missing that sitter my nan would have scored.

Reminded me of Alan smith. He makes the team better and whilst he’s not the most clinical finisher you can forgive him as he has a lot to his game.

People can dismiss to some extent the performances against West Ham and Burnley as 'It's only West Ham and Burnley' but Newcastle, is still a very decent side despite the losses. On their day they can stimy anyone in the league.

It's in the top 5 performances this season. Beating City at home remains the best for me. Beating Liverpool second. Take your pick of Man Utd, Liverpool away, this game.

The team defense is good. I think Tinder will raise our game a lot. I am really excited about him. I think he'll be a revelation. I also think we need a top notch left back and a top holding midfielder to free up Rice a bit. Finally a top quality number 9.

Dyche says the fact that Arsenal score lots from set pieces is not mentioned. Hmmm it is, a lot, every time we get a corner. Every time we score the set piece table comes up and Jover gets some camera time. I can’t think of a team where set pieces is mentioned more.

Dyche plays a certain percentage based agricultural football and bristles when anyone mentions it. Also arsenal have scored 62 goals this year, Everton have 28, when you’re at the bottom of the league and you rely on set pieces for more than half your goals it’s going to be mentioned negatively as opposed to when you’re flying and simply topping up your goals with set pieces.

Ally McCoist was good on co comms last night. As well as praising the attacking play he was loving our two CB, they were absolutely all over Newcastle in that first half. So aggressive, but a clean aggression. Between them our CB only have 5 yellow cards this season in what must be 50 combined games.

Can’t stand Bruno Fernandes. He’s one of the biggest cheats in the league. Talented footballer but his attitude stinks. If I were doing the rebuild at Man U I’d sell him to the highest bidder because they would get a decent fee for him, ditto Rashford. Both are a big reason Man U are where they are. If Man U start accepting where they are, be more humble and buy some players based on their actual ability through good scouting and not buying ‘names’ they’ll start to recover. Build that side around Hojland, Mainoo, Garnacho, Martinez - they can’t get rid of all the rest at once but they’ve got to do a rebuild as we did under Arteta. If they get it as right as we did they could do it quicker because they’ll have more money to do it but they’ve got so many bad eggs there

Saka stats

2022/23: 48 apps, 15 goals, 11 assists
2023/24: 34 apps, 16 goals, 12 assists

Talk of a weaker season for Saka. What this shows is that these kind of stats are now the norm for him so expectations go through the roof. He’s not at Salah levels of goals and assists yet but when Liverpool had that poor season and just scraped in to the top 4 Salah was seemingly well out of sorts - but still scored 19 goals in the league. When you get this good, your ‘poor’ periods are still better than most players best ever

Even though we dispatched of Newcastle after a tough away CL lost, I'm still a wee bit nervous we are playing Chelsea 3 days after the 2nd leg against Porto. We are at home and Chelsea is at home as well but we need a big effort and fear being worn out a bit or god forbid key injuries.

City have to play Man Utd at home and Liverpool away. Anything can happen in a derby and Man Utd will at least put up a fight. City getting a point out of both would be nice.

It's going to be tight and I might as well enjoy these moments because at some point we'll likely be out of contention. We are still a work in progress. I think we are maybe 3 positions (striker, holding midfielder, left back) from me being confident we have enough to push all the way.

Do agree with your points, with the caveat of also accepting a dip after Fernandes goes as he gets very good numbers for them as well as being a problem. But the main thing is I hope the DO try to build around Martinez as I think his lack of just mass and height is a problem and his injury this time came in part as he was trying to do something nasty to an opposition player. It wasn’t mentioned as he got a bad injury from it, but he was trying to execute a needless forearm/elbow smash as he shepherded the ball out. Then the player fell on his knee and injured him, again. He’s a nasty player who tries to “do” other players quite regularly and massively injury prone.

But Hojlund is everything you want in a big forward, Garnacho looks like he could be a Ronaldo clone and Mainoo is what I imagine Saka would be like if he was tuned in the garage to be a 6. Rest of the squad, not so much.

Loved Fulham’s victory yesterday :1laughter:

In City’s next 6 games they play all other top 4 teams, a Manchester derby and Brighton away. A tough set of fixtures. If they’re top after that then it will be goodnight. They have spurs away in their final 7 but the rest is easy for them.

I feel confident that if we bring our best game and have the best team fit then we can beat them at the Etihad, and I think we’ll need to to win the title
