I heard someone else say that, their hot take was not beating city at the Etihad was why we didn’t win the league. Braindead stuff. How can you see Arsenal take 4 points of City and say that’s why you haven’t won the league when you see us drop points in 3 games against Fulham West Ham and arguably Villa that we should have won with better finishing. Desperate for narrative.

.....and that Klopp never beat Pep at the Etihad, Pep has only beaten Klopp once at Anfield and even last year Pep lost to us at the emirates. All facts and logic point to you absolutely NOT having to win at your rivals ground.

Not taking anything the ginger haired pr*ck says regarding us. He hates us and very biased. Fact is the run we went on from January is title winning form. That form has beaten his side a few times. Scholes is very well aware of that.

This City team is like no other. When a team like Liverpool gets almost 100 points and can't win the title it speaks volumes. We are a fine team. Our last two seasons were amazing especially given where we were at the time.

I guarantee you 100 percent had Man Utd had the same exact season we did, he'd be describing them completely different. If City doesn't have an off season by their standards you can't beat them. The season Liverpool won it was an off season for City. When Liverpool won the title in '20 City had 81 points. Of the 6 titles City has won out of 7 in the last 7 years, Man Utd were runners up in both. Did they lack a winning mentality?

Furthermore, the amount of money in the league means the mid and lower table. The pundits and media act like beating City to the title in 2023 is in the same realm of beating Man Utd in 2003.

Ornstein reporting a deal may be close for Nketiah to Marseille. Possibly as a year loan with obligation to buy for 30m euros - a shade over £25m pounds.

The obligation a year later doesn't help us balance those FFP books by much this year but it is time to cut Eddie loose and £25m for him is good money.

Chelsea are going to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves. Yet another player - Palmer, Madueke, Sterling, Mudryk all already there and play on the wings - plus probably the countless young players they've signed.

Bonkers strategy I've never seen before

Nope. He's a poor man's Theo Walcott.

Not with a ten foot bargepole. Dire player.

Depends on the price. Has all the attributes to be a very good player but lacks a brain.

I wish we’d seen him as a 28M pound Brentford player.

FFP dodges aside, there seems to be a misunderstanding of how young players value increases. By playing. They won’t play. They got the money for Gallagher because he was playing - relatively - well. But that just means they can only get money for their decent performers. As a talent agency if they loan out players like Maatsen it could work, as a football first team trying to win something it’s mad.

It’s heartening to see it flounder so far, I heard pundits/journalists say football needs the Chelsea project to fail, but football needed the oligarchs and the nation state projects to fail too.. just checked - they’re doing ok.

Well I guess we saw off Abramovic after 20 years, but that did take the odd international sanction or two.

It’s all very much spending today and will hope tomorrow works out.
By selling Gallagher and Maatsen for about £75m they now in theory could sign £425m worth of players all on 5 year deals as they spread the cost of the £425m across the 5 years meaning in year 1 (now) they break even against the £75m….but the big problem for Chelsea is they need to keep selling £75 worth of academy players every year. It’s just impossible

Looking at a 25 man squad and the maximum 17 non home grown spaces we're allowed
Gabriel, Zinchenko, Timber, Tomiyasu, Calafiori, Kiwior, Jorginho, Partey, Ødegaard, Vieira, Havertz, Jesus, Trossard - is only 13 players

Home grown players - Raya, Ramsdale, Hein, White, Saliba, Rice, Martinelli, Nketiah, Nelsen - 9 players

That is 23 players. Tierney's future is not yet resolved but Tavares, Lokonga and Marquinos are all out on loan

So before any more sales we've got space for 2 more players and both can be non home-grown. Mikel merino seems certain to be one of those soon.

U21 players can play but don't have to be counted in the 25 man squad - so Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly come in this category.

Of those 9 home-grown players there are question marks over the future of 4 of them (Ramsdale, Hein, Nketiah, Nelsen) - so we need to keep an eye on buying or developing home grown players to slot in to the first team squad

Both Tottenham's and Bournemouths biggest transfer over 60 million quid. Most pundits are saying its a great signing for Sperz. Although some Tottenham fans aren't happy.

The prospective XI Arteta plans to field next week may or may not start as one unit but I'd be surprise if they all didn't feature in this game at some point. I would still like to see younger players get a run out so they can impress and get a place on the bench.

Maybe I'm hearing things but their accents sound different. They look working class which I always assumed had a more Dickensian accent. Again maybe I'm assuming things that aren't so.

Saka not salad hot and spicy.

So far it's like a walk in the park. But they need to pace themselves.

We have to think seriously about that left wing position.

Martinelli was quick, sharp and his movement was excellent. He got plenty of the ball too.

HOWEVER, his end product was terrible.

Havertz has to start thumping some of those chances, at least make the keeper work.

Partey with a great chance centre of the box puts it wide. Havertz goes a bit wide then weak pass/shot wide of goal. Then a delicious dink cross by Zinchenko I thought the keeper made a wonder save but Saka heads it down onto the foot of the post. We’re creating chances at will. Two set piece goals from our super centre backs the only goals though. Finishing leaving a lot to be desired.

Anyone else noticed how when the ball goes out Raya gets a ball immediately from a ball boy standing behind the goal?
