If Jesus was still on the field, when it was 11 v 10, we would have won. He has urgency

Theo Walcott thinks we'll win the shoot-out.

Raya dived early and the wrong way on every single penalty

Absolutely ridiculous defeat. Havertz should be practicing next week with a banjo and a cow's arse.

Well, we've thrown away two great silverware opportunities because our forwards are utter shite in front of goal.

Two disastrous games. We score 1 goal in two home games when we should have scored about 8

No excuses for losing that one Rich.

The in-game pen was a gift and we still couldn't take advantage. Havertz missed two absolute sitters and a pen in the shoot out. Not one of his finest games.

Surely we must buy a striker this window.

Who?

A top striker in jan is like hens teeth.

Can't fault the effort and performances, last two games have totally dominated and somehow contrived to miss a series of sitters (today - Havertz twice, Rice once and the Ødegaard penalty).

It's somewhat evident that we lack the goals in the squad, particularly in the form of a recognised striker who can regularly find the back of the net.

Hey ho, the difficulty is that I don't think the right players will be available this jan, and realistically we have to wait til the summer and this season may well collapse as a result of this squad deficiency.....

Nah, he should be offered around to any club that'll have him before the end of January. It's worth noting that, after winning the Covid year final with Emery's team, Arteta has turned the club with the proudest FA Cup history into a sh*te cup team. Knocked out in the third or fourth round five years in a row now, after a run of something like four finals in seven years.

Big turning point. I reckon we could have beaten 9 men.

With Newcastle and City starting to look good we can't afford too many toothless displays like that.

Too many players look jaded and void of confidence. I can't remember a performance when we haven't this season. Can't single out Havertz as at times last year he was very good. Season is over as far as silverware goes and Arteta should be allowed another year to get things moving again. I think he should be placed under more pressure from the club to deliver and let's see how he does

A short term stop gap signing is badly needed til end of the season. The lack of options up front is embarrassing. We have no recognised striker with Jesus out, Havertz is not a no9. With Saka out too, we're so so short of options.

Unfortunately It feels like too much has gone wrong for us this season, and the lack of strikers is really taking its toll.

He'd miss

0 goals from an Xg of 1.98, including the penalty. One of the most woeful finishing displays for a while. And it is not just him. Offside, off target, cautious, and slow, sums up our attack.

The only positive is the rest we’ll get when the 4th and 5th round are on and none of our league games will be postponed to create a fixture backlog at the end of the season.

Clutching at straws here

We have a real lack of quality ball strikers in the squad. Imagine a bouncing ball coming out to the edge of the box and any of our players running on to hit it first time, how many actually get it on target?

That's a depressing thought. Gone in the 3rd round for the third time in four years.

Past 2 games, 49 shots, over 8xG and just 1 goal.

Desperate for attacking reinforcements.

At the same time we could do with a bit of luck with bloody opponents not being able to score with their only sodding chance of the game

Reporting I’ve seen is we can’t do Williams without selling first. But that’s I think because they’re going off the release clause which you can’t amortise. In any case we seem pretty hamstrung financially what we can go for if we’re looking for a season changer type of signing. Not a Reyes or Arshavin on the horizon…

Cost wise in theory they are because they all have release clauses. £100m ish for Williams and either of those two strikers. All would improve us instantly. Do they want to come? Will we pay the money?

We must have made a huge margin last year, we sold two £30m academy players which is £60m straight in the accounts, that effectively allows us to buy 6 x £50m players each on 5 year deals and that would break even the Emile Smith Rowe and Nketiah sales. It would obviously be irresponsible to do that - it’s kind of what Chelsea have done but it’s there
