If this is true I cant understand the point of seemingly making Sesko the number one target then putting in a bid for Gyokeres instead!

I think Sesko could be the real deal in a few years time with more potential and more years on his side. He clearly has more to his game and physically more imposing as well as blessed with pace.
My fear is we could be missing out on the next Isak.
Yes Gyokeres will give us goals but i think we are missing a trick by not going for the more all rounded player.
Is this a possible tactic for Leipzig to reduce the price or payment terms?
I hope so.

I think it’s possibly both. RB do seem to be desperately trying to extract as much as possible, which is their right, the Saudi interest etc. if the difference is 20M and we don’t get Sesko better that we get Gyokeres than neither of them and in the meantime our pursuit of him stops RB from trying to “extort” us.

I don’t know how much all this brinkmanship actually works. I guess we’ll see! I’m as concerned with a left winger as the striker, and that potential 20M difference might mean we can land Williams or Rodrygo for example. (Personally I don’t see us doing a deal for either unfortunately)

ENG U21 playing tonight. 8pm channel 4 in Blighty. Potential starting line ups have Nwaneri up front in a 4-2-3-1!

Liverpool didn’t make it in even though they qualified via the ranking points they got in Europe but there’s a maximum of 2 teams per country. Liverpool have been lobbying FIFA for more places per country on that basis. This isn’t going away any time soon.

True. If i were in charge I'd scrap it. I'd cut World Cup to 24teams.

In light of us being rumoured to have made an offer for Viktor Gyokeres I can confirm I have studied some you tube videos and decided to pivot and now believe he’s ideal to solve our striker dilemma.

It’s not sesko it’s him now. I’m allowed to change my mind which is fine

I’ll ring Mikel and let him know of your views. By tomorrow morning it should be a done deal. There are a number of sites on the internet already claiming final approval has been given high up in the workings of Arsenal.

The EPL and knockout phases of CL are compelling, but the rest is just filler. Absolutely dispensable. International football has become a bore.

However, the market doesn't seem to agree. There seems to be an infinite demand for gambling, liquor, and football.

I'm also in the Gyokeres camp, so please mention that to Mik when you chat. I'm sure that will convince him. If you could, also drop a word with Vik and tell him I'm onsides.

That’s 28 players including Grealish meaning that for any given game in the prem 8 of these players aren’t even going to make the match day squad!

I have no doubt our first 11 competes with City but the depth here having spent £300m on 8 players since January is crazy.

Even if we do have a good transfer season, it's going to be another season of hoping City slip up, isn't it?

I think you can add Liverpool to that.

That said, it'll be interesting to see how all these new players for both of them change the team dynamics (as of course it will be for us if we ever actually sign someone).

I'm discounting Chelsea, unless anyone can persuade me otherwise.

On the subject of Gyokeres v Sesko - I don't really know enough about either, but it seems to me that Gyokeres plays in an easier league than Sesko. Sign both? Or is there a left field target that'll surprise us all as the signing of Supermac shocked me in the pre-internet days? (£333,333 plus free white wrist sweat bands, and tap ins from 6 inches out).

I don't know about Gyokeres v Sesko either. Its just that Sesko's numbers don't exactly bowl one over. I don't think Gyokeres will need much time to adjust. If he's good enough, he'll be good enough in his first season.

I’m in Porto Portugal at the moment carrying out undercover operations on behalf of the club. Got a bit distracted yesterday at antique shops and book stores. Purchased a great book published in Italy in 1595. I will probably need a commission from the club to pay for the holiday. I think I might use my Aussie connections to speak to Mikel on your behalf. Will ring Tim Cahill and get him to talk to Mikel. He can say the fans overwhelmingly want this player. Two votes is enough.

And United purchased was it Ted MacDougall from Bournemouth and ….never good enough. Not sure we really are as well run club as some think. These other clubs , people despise, do deals and stay within the vague rules that exist because they squeeze thru rules and often sell for silly money. We always seem to be taken advantage of by buyers and sellers and our commercial deals are often far behind others.

Wonder if the locals there rate Gyokeres as much as the media seems to? Time to dust off your Portuguese? (Once you've blown the dust off your book purchases, that is.)

You have got to wait right to closing day to pick up gems like Sterling.

Clearly transfers are a complex business with lots of brinkmanship and who blinks first etc.

Nobody wants to pay more than they have to and clubs know that if several clubs are in the mix for a player it is not wise to accept the first bid unless it meets or exceeds their asking price.

However, with a desperate need for a CF I would have thought that paying a bit over the odds for the player we want would not be an issue.

If Andrea Berta is the great deal maker he is meant to be then we should start seeing a few dominoes falling soon because he's got a lot to do, ins and outs.

Lads, ye need to calm down. It's only the middle of June. The players are on holidays. Arteta is probably on holidays too. Arsenal will sign players, a few good ones no doubt.

yes i’m not worried about signings. They will come and then the conversation pivots to why are we paying them so much and that they aren’t worth the transfer fee like with Deccers

For what it’s worth, Sunday Times report this morning the Gyokeres’ preferred club is the Arse and he has made that clear to United.

Fees are crazy - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/ar ... g4gxgy56yo

Decent young player but a 3 goals in 20 games is hardly the stuff of brilliance is it, remember what £30mill would have purchased a few years back.........

Instead of sleeping I spent the night reading up and watching Ollie Watkins goals. I am now convinced he’s the striker we need instead of Gyokeres prior to thinking that Sesko was best and prior to that Gyokeres before.

I was relieved to read this today. I’ve changed my mind, I’m allowed to change my mind.

I did see reports that Auckland couldn’t take their full team because a number of players could not get time off work. Often players have to supplement income over here. I don’t know why you bother watching the tournament at all.

For a tournament as Rich as the Club World Cup???

And when did they request time off?? Last week?? You gotta get in there early for that hotspot leave… like at least 2 months!

Next season’s fixtures are out today.
What chances we are first up on the Friday night game away to any of the promoted teams, or an away trip to Everton on the tv to open their new stadium?
