Jesus TG - hunkered down in an Irish bar in Hong Kong - been a loooong day already.

SAY IT AINT SO!!

Sorry I was just trying to get in early before the next one is announced. Just think of it as an outlook calendar reminder before a conference call or appointment you have made 5 days in advance.

Plenty of time for another Guinness D

Jokes aside we have another 16 matches this season minimum assuming we go out of Europe next round.

Someone else is getting injured right :laughing7:

How can you sub more than 1 of our remaining front 3 without having some oddball line up.

This literally is going to be a global meme.

It would be just our luck for the mickey mousers to start dropping points only for us to drop even more.

October 1991. We got docked 2 points and Man U 1 point. The game was reasonably competitive. There was real hate between the clubs.

Unfortunately I think it’s inevitable. As much as I enjoyed the spectacle of last nights Merseyside derby, it should have been more enjoyable as Liverpool dropped points in the title race. But knowing we have no strikers until next season, and no game changing wingers for 4-8 weeks, it just feels our race is run. I feel like our aim has to be get top 4, and stay in the CL until Saka and Martinelli return…
Alternatively we could change the system, put players in weird positions, and then proceed to win the league and CL against all the odds. This is my preferred outcome.

Actually, Gaz, I think it was October 1990 - we went on to win the league. From memory, the reason we were docked a point more than United was because of an incident the previous season in our 4-3 win against Norwich, which was an early example of a media beat-up. As Ian St John said about the Norwich 'brawl', 'There's been worse scuffles in the January sales.'

Arsenal may have the opportunity to request special dispensation to use Max Dowman given their current injury predicament, but it is not clear whether the Premier League would accept any application.

There was the great George Graham speech after which was effectively saying behave yourselves but I love that you’re all in this together and backed each other up - let’s stick it to them for the rest of the season. And we won the league!

Arteta concedes that policy of deliberately tearing hamstrings to make them stronger is not backed by the whole medical team

Ethan Nwaneri set to miss rest of season through injury. Arsenal forward suffered injury during a botched circumcision operation Mikel Arteta forced him to undertake at #AFC camp in Dubai. Unclear if the teenager will require corrective surgery but focus is getting fit for 2025-26 campaign

At least he wasn't involved in a three-way collision with Sterling and Nwaneri, resulting in all three suffering broken limbs. We have to look to the positives!

Mate you may be correct. Will have to look it up at some time. I was annoyed and surprised surprise no one has been docked points on this basis since then.

Imagine if that happened now, the docking points not the brawl, the Arsenal v Man U one was a decent brawl but there’s been plenty of equivalent or worse since.
I’d welcome a proper disciplinary process rather than the current situation. If the ref doesn’t see it, or doesn’t give the appropriate sanction and var doesn’t correct it then you’re off scott free - irrespective of whether an independent panel concludes both made a mistake.

Context is important. English football's reputation was not good due to the hooliganism issue and European ban. The last thing the FA wanted was two of the big three having a mass brawl.

The most amazing thing about that season was that we won the league in a season when our captain missed two months because he was in jail.

I’d welcome just letting them give each other a bit of biffo, yellow card and then a pint down the pub to make up.

Rashford trains alone because he wanted to get up to peak fitness after Emery gave the squad a couple of days off.
There are two headlines you could write for this, something like Rashford knuckles down to impress Emery or what was written below which clearly insinuates he’s already fallen out with Emery and his attitude is a problem

Before the Everton game Oliver had only given Liverpool one red card (zero straight reds) in 65 games. He’s given us 8 red cards in 62 games. His red card record against Everton and Man U (2 big Liverpool rivals) is far worse than what he dished out to Liverpool.

Oliver has given Liverpool 17 penalties in 65 games. He’s given us 5 penalties in 62 games.

Liverpool fans think Oliver hates them because of one game in which he also could have given a Liverpool player a second yellow card in the game and a penalty against Konate for handball- the body of evidence of the games he’s reffed them don’t show them as a statistical outlier, they have zero evidence of long term bias. They are also talking about the odd in play foul or a possible push on Konate for the equaliser, the sorts of decisions you do see go for and against teams often because they are incidents we’ve seen thousands of time. We moan about Oliver because his decisions against us are one off spectacular decisions he’s never given to anyone else. We have 3 big ones with him, Martinelli, Trossard and MLS

Agreed, probably discussed less only down to the consistency and amazing durability of Timber - considering he's off the back of an ACL the plan would never have been to play him this much, we're very lucky he's come back so strong with no minor niggles commonly associated with post-ACL.

Our formidable right side has been decimated this season. Imagine our right side injuries occurring for the Invincible era left side, no Ashley Cole for 4 months, No Pires for 2 months and no Henry for 3 months.

Great to have White back

I'm still yet to see the media pile on for Slot abusing a ref and Liverpool's indiscipline at the end of the Merseyside Derby. When MLS did a celebration we had leading pundits telling him to show more respect and stop being arrogant. When MLS was wrongly sent off v Wolves and Arteta said barley a word and certainly didn't confront the ref the leading pundits said Arteta was the catalyst for referee pile ons because his behaviour transmits to the players and fans.

We saw pundits up and down to land crucify MLS, what about Curtis Jones - got himself needlessly involved, couldn't keep his emotions in check and cost his team by being sent off (rightly), a serial offender of course because he had a over the top challenge v Spurs which was given a straight red AND when playing for England U21 Jones couldn't contain his emotions when Croatia scored a late goal against England and he lost his head with the Croats celebrations and started a scuffle leading to a red card.

If the press wanted to do to a much more warranted hatched job then a player with 3 red cards for ill discpline would be a better starting place than an 18 year old with a correctly over turned red and a celebration.
