I agree, it can be called ‘bottling it’ if that’s genuinely what it is, but I just think too many defeats for many teams are put squarely down to mentality.
It also seems that if you win something at one time then you can’t be accused of ever ‘bottling’ anything in the future

100%. It is lazy analysis to use the word bottle. I have seen numerous online commentary declaring the team who finished 2nd bottled it. If that is so what does it say about those who finished 3rd to 20th?

Just what was needed, felt it had been a while since we got an early goal. Nice from Martinelli and Havertz

Blimey Gab. Free header.

Hope we don’t regret missing chances like that.

Zinchenko's tendency to give the ball away is a worry.

Too slow with the trigger. That's three big chances that needed to be hit first time. Sterling, Zinchenko and Havertz.

The head injury thing is a problem in football. Zagreb player gets the slightest brush of fingers on his face, rolls around in agony and ref forced to stop our attack due to the risk of a serious head injury. Infuriating

Just when Kiwior looks composed he messes up, few sloppy moments then Martinelli with a great 60 yard run.

Martinelli is the real danger tonight. Beating his man most of the time

Timber now taking a chance as the last defender. No need, gives them a sniff, gets our crowd on edge

Whilst we’re all over them and we’re creating chances, our central goal threat is implied rather than real.

Gyokeres scored again. Worth watching the goal shows what we miss in a striker. He gets the ball 35 yards out, runs at the defender, shifts it on to his left to get half a yard and just slams it in the net. Just classic CF stuff, the CF knows he’s faster and more skillful than the defender so just kills him so easily

Of not for the early goal we’d be getting very frustrated. It’s pretty dull. Not moving the ball quickly enough, too many touches in possession. Highlights again what we need in January.

Martinelli has played well.

So 16 points and 3rd as it stands.
13th place has 13 points.
2 teams in the top 13 play each other in the final round so in theory the lowest we can finish is 12th as it stands. But we need top 8
If all the teams below us on more than 13 points win and we lose we’d be 7th, so then there are 5 teams on 13 points and 2 of them would need to better our goal difference.

So make sure of the win but we could really do with winning well, 3 or 4-0 would put us in an almost certain top 8 position

Ademi, what a shame of a Captain :20hospitals:
Goes down whenever he loses a duel

We’ve stepped off it and seemingly happy to let Zagreb have more of the ball. No idea why we do this

Sterling and timber off
Partey and Nwaneri on

Sterling is such a shame, these are the games when he should be doing enough to ensure or allow Arteta to play him for 90 minutes so others get a proper rest

Havertz 2-0

What a cross from Martinelli, 90% of that goal is from the cross

Brilliant defensive work from Martinelli there again. Ran 80 yards to catch up with the winger.

Best player on the pitch tonight. He’s the one who has stepped up in Saka’s absence

Martinelli has been excellent.

Havertz took that like a boss. He's been good tonight. His confidence is back.

Nwaneri puts it on a plate for Rice - should be 3-0. Terrible header by Rice

Nwaneri has already done more than Sterling had for 2 matches

Nwaneri looking so good. Very strong, and then such a brilliant ball to Rice.

I really hope Tierney stays for the rest of the season. When he's fit he's a very good player.

Very decent cameo.

Apparently he’s taking a 75k pay cut to go to Celtic

PSG just scored a goal and had it allowed by VAR for exactly the same thing we had it disallowed for recently

Ball comes off an opposing player

These are the only teams who can overtake us in the league now.
Any team with 13 points will also have to overtake our goal difference

Even if we lost to Girona it will take all of Inter, Atletico, Milan and Atalanta to win AND 2 of the teams on 13 points to win by at least 5 goals.

It’s going to take a fairly ridiculous set of results to see us not qualify in the top 8 now. When/if we do we avoid those extra two games and can take a a couple of 10-11 day breaks in Feb/March time. We need to get on that Dubai holiday that refreshed us last year!

Very funny. City’s fall off has been catastrophic and they’ve faced nowhere near the quantity of injuries we have…..and still I don’t think anywhere near enough is being made of it. They have just 8 points from 7 CL games and are outside of the qualification spots.
