Even Maria's friends don't like to sit next to her. I went to an Arsenal ladies match at Wycombe's ground a couple of years back. Just before kick off she came along my row with 2 other people and her seat was to one side of me, the other 2 on the other side. As you would I offered to swap seats with them so they could sit together and one of them was very quick to decline the offer, laughing. And don't get me started on her bloody ridiculous chants. When I go to Boreham Wood I make sure I'm as far away from her as it is possible to get in the ground...and she's till bloody annoying.

She sits right below me. She's in Club level and we're West Upper. She is so *%^@*** annoying with her stupid, made-up chants and constantly taking pictures.

And with that, Mr Hoy took his big barrel of sarcasm and put it back in the garden shed. "Plenty there to keep me going until November at least" he mused to himself "Although I might need a top-up around the time we play Lokomotiv Vinkovci in the Europa League. His neighbour Ada waved cheerfully at him from across the fence which probably needed a touch of creosote. "Lawks, My Hoy, they're sitting down to discuss Brexit again this morning, any news on the trade deal with the Solomon Islands that will restore our dignity as a self-governing nation?" Hoy looked at her sternly.

"What have I told you that walls have, Ada?"

"Ears, My Hoy?"

"Indeed. We must simply trust the real Prime Minister Mr Corbyn to do his best for us and secure a Brexit on the best possible terms for the many and not the few."

It was not usually Mr Hoy's way to set people right but sometimes it just had to be done.

True Dec ..... but as I'm sure the Bermondsey Talent Scout would agree ...... accuracy not power was the key here .

Marin's big boomers were in the main within reach , whereas Roger got him time and time again with a slower slider out wide ; especially to the forehand court .

With the arrival of Borg and Connors every coach on the planet decided double handed backhands were the way to go , two hands you must get more power right ....? but it limits your reach and is harder to change strokes .

Federer with his single hander a simple twist of the racquet and he can slice or top spin in a hearbeat . His top spin backhand was lethal and a thing of beauty .
Federer played a masterful game mixing things up , slices getting that big 6'6" body bending low .

Impossible to know whether Cilic's injury was real or a ploy , he got the crowd on his side and sometimes the opposition can switch off mentally .

Bernard Tomic the Ozzie of Croatian pedigree admitted at a press conference he called for the trainer when there was nothing wrong with him , in an attempt to break up his opponents rhythm .

Parallels with another Croat ... Goran Ivanisevic ...big serve but blows a bit hot and cold .

Wasn't quite as one sided as Hoad v Cooper , Laver v Mulligan or Newcombe v Bungert but it was pretty plain sailing

... and so ends this in depth Guardian tennis review ...well done Roger well deserved .

Well American - when you have a culture that worships the gun and claims that everyone should have the right to walk abòut with them, then what happens is that a lot of people shoot each other. Including cops, and of course toddlers.

The general point I raised with dec yesterday still applies though. Why does American ask all these questions if he has genuinely blocked many of the posters who could give him an answer, perhaps even most of the ones who are likely to?

I think he's only posting to the nice posters, like Hodd, Goonie and gooner 7. He really wants to avoid the terrible trolls who should take a long hard look at themselves like you, Bernard, Dec, Hazuki, Exiled, the fearsome Kiwi, Abu and of course yours truly.

If she can afford a seat in club level, is she well off then? After all, she must be retired so presumably lives on a pension.

How much is a club level season ticket?

Btw I *%^@** love 'Now 80s' on sky. They're doing a best selling countdown at the moment. Band Aid will be number 1, any guesses for number 2. Ooooh Adam and the Ants @ 15 with Stand & Deliver. Great fun....

That's a great shout on the cans of Coke, John. That would have been around the time of the cola wars. Sweatbands and Coke. A dynamite combination.

Robinsons barley water was the healthy option.

Blue Monday number 13... *%^@** yes.... playing the 90s techno mix instead of the original 12" version. *%^@ off!

For those interested in seeing how many women have won the Wimbledon title without losing a set, see link. There are lots! In the 'modern' era Little Mo Connolly lost just 19 games in winning the title back in 1953 and 1954. Kiwi remembers it well.

Relax? Ride On Time? Take My Breath Away? Come on Eileen? They seemed to be at the top of the charts for months.

I just tuned in a few minutes ago and we've already had Ride on Time. I wonder if they will exclude Xmas hits. Because if the don't I'm pretty sure Wham's 'Last Xmas' should be number 2. Eye of the Tiger number 12, not the same without the accompanying movie.

Come on Eileen number 10. The girl playing Eileen in the video is a sister of your one from Bananarama.
Stay tuned for the countdown where I will post something trivial on each of the top 9.

The guy who maintains our fish pond told us a horrific story about his former addiction to Coca Cola. He only finally got off it a few years ago and he is now in his 40s. Did his teeth in badly and cost him thousands in dental fees to put right.

Its all Wenger's fault...

Number 8 George Michael and. Careless Whisper. Although Andrew Ridgeley had nothing to do with this track George insisted he got a writing credit on it. He knew it was going to be massive and as Wham were coming to an end he wanted to make sure his mate made a decent few quid from it. Top man was George..

Number 6, Everything She Wants by Wham. They signed off with this one and it was a lot less 'poppy' than their usual offerings. The only Wham track George would perform in his live set when he went solo.

He isn't. He's from London. His mother was from Tipp I think. He can't hold a tune to save his life.

Number 5, Don't You Want Me by The Human League. 2 of the co founders of the human league left and formed Heaven 17 along with Glen Gregory. Their debut album Penthouse and Pavement is an absolute classic.
