Sacking Tuchel is just mad isn't it. I mean all those new signings and he got barely any time to even work with them let alone create a cohesive team.

The sensible but risky move would be Potter who knows with that regime.

Tuchel has a track record of falling out with the people he works for / with. Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, PSG - none ended well.

Whoever comes in will only have a few matches before the World Cup. We play them at their place on 5th November - the penultimate game before the break.

If you were potter would you take that job ? I wouldn’t

He’s on the south coast in Brighton which is a great place. The fans love him. He’s created a squad and ethos that mirrors his attitude and it’s very much a long term job.

Chelsea will sack him on the first dip in form and blame his inexperience at the highest level. Unless he’s winning across the board the fans will moan because he isn’t a “name” and he won’t be appreciated

I wouldn’t contemplate it

It’s amazing the way Chelsea are just wankers.

Their wankiness traverses generations, changes in coaches, changes in players and even changes in ownership.

They are just multi generational wankers. It’s amazing

I know one or two Brighton supporters - actually they're old Arse-supporting mates who moved down that way and watch their football locally. They say that Brighton are pretty dire to watch and that every goal is a surprise. They're all surprised at their relative success.

Mad but Tuchel didn't seem too happy. His pressers seemed down beat.

Zidane's been floated around as well. Getting Poch seems more likely though. Potter should stay at Brighton.

He was truly dreadful. The commentary team were saying that they could not understand it and how he was so far off his usual form.

In my opinion that is now his usual form.

Some odd quotes from Leno today, seemed to suggest him not being picked at Arsenal was political and not performance related and he ‘had to get out of there’.
He kept very quiet whilst he was here, model professional really. I can’t think there was anything political. Arteta wanted Ramsdale as he was good with his feet and it was a huge requirement for his type of football. Leno also had 1 year left on his deal so I’m not sure it was Leno forcing the move, the club were happy to sell.
I like Leno and he should be at a bigger club than Fulham, but the fact that only Fulham came in for him says a lot

I’m watching the Napoli game and keeping an eye on updates from the Tottenham game which sounds to be excruciatingly dire. No doubt Kane will bail them out once again.

That’s unfortunate. Not bad for a third keeper. He’s only 35 which is no limiter for a keeper.

Sadly it was Richarlison with two goals in the last quarter of an hour. Marseille were down to ten men shortly after half time. I didn’t watch it but someone who did told me Guendzouzi and Tavares both played well.

Yes Kane is annoyingly good isn’t he. Best in the world? That Haaland bloke looks quite useful.

I think Haaland has to do it for far longer than half a dozen games at City for me to put him above Kane, who in addition to his goals also provides plenty of assists. It may well change (I’m sure it will as they both grow older with Kane getting into, and further into, his thirties and Haaland towards and into his mid-twenties), but at this point in time I still rate Kane as the best centre forward.

Watching last night’s highlights has reminded me that we failed to mention another strong candidate for best centre forward in the world. And this one does have a long consistent track record. Lewandowski is plain scary if you are the opposition.

When younger I would completely agree. Now I’d put Kane ahead of him. If Bayern last season and Barcelona this season were given the free choice of having either Kane or Lewandowski in their team, I am absolutely certain they would both choose Kane.

Interesting to see the current odds for this season’s Europa League winner. Arsenal are favourites at 5/1, Manchester United are second favourites at 6/1, Roma are third favourites at 14/1 and Lazio are fourth favourites at 20/1. The two Italian clubs (from Rome) are thus less fancied by quite a considerable margin.

So Arsenal’s defeat at Old Trafford wasn’t enough to make Manchester United the new favourites. Having said that it has made me less confident as if or when we end up playing them, I firmly believe Manchester United are more than capable of knocking us out be it in an earlier round or the final.

Obviously the odds may change when we know which of the Champions League teams drop into the Europa League after the group stage. It looks highly likely one will be Inter Milan, who lost at home to Bayern last night and also have Barcelona in the same group.

It turns out, perhaps unsurprisingly, that Begovic is their reserve keeper.

The injured keeper is Andy Lonergan and he is their third keeper behind Begovic.

So Liverpool lose a metronomic passer in midfield and fail to strengthen that area enough in the window and suddenly their defence looks all at sea now it’s not protected by 3 hard working central midfielders. Trent Alexander-Arnold is a woeful defender, watch him for Napoli’s 2nd and 3rd goals, he just stands there, no interest in defending.

Liverpool are playing a talented but very young Elliot alongside a clearly past it Milner in midfield. Henderson’s legs don’t carry him as much any more. Fabinho remains top class but can’t do it all and Thiago is constantly injured.

I wish we were playing Liverpool very soon. I can’t recall many times we play the best teams with a fully fit 11 and they have injuries and depleted teams

Lewandowski's age alone hardly makes him a worse player though - it just makes it unlikely he'll keep this level for as long as Kane can be expected to. Lewandowski's past three seasons have been his best, and he was a better player at 33 than he was at 28 which is quite remarkable.

Benzema has to get a mention here. Top scorer in both La Liga and the CL last season, winning both. 44 goals in 46 games including goals against PSG, Chelsea, Man City and the winning goal in the final against Liverpool. It was an absolutely phenomenal season. He has been the best striker in the world in the past 12.months.

Yes, another player that has aged very well. He really took his game to another level after Ronaldo left and he became the main man for Real, he's hit 20+ league goals every season since.

It is far easier scoring goals for Bayern than it is for Tottenham. Kane is better than Lewandowski.

Not sure that's true at all. Playing for a better team also means more players will be able to share the goalscoring load; for Tottenham everything revolves around Kane and Son.

I'm hoping one of the few things that the squad may take from the loss is that they have a ways to go. Maybe...just maybe they might have started to think they were 'contenders' and farther ahead in progress than we really are. Hoping they lick their wounds and decide to double down and make sure that doesn't happen again.

It's going to be a tough next 4-6 weeks. We will be tested again. And that's a good thing.

Possibly, but for me only due to the fact that Benzema is 34 so could decline rapidly. If his form of last season was guaranteed, then he gets the nod without a doubt.

If I could magically transfer one striker to Arsenal right now, it would be Mbappe, with Haaland a close second.
