Amazing how things change. I was just meandering around results and tables from the European leagues. I hadn’t realised how poorly Parma are now. Memories of 1994 came flooding back. |

There you have the evidence of MOTD singling out Lacazette the other day. He gets caught in the face and immediately the sky commentator says ‘the replay will show us how much contact there was with Lacazette’ inferring he didn’t think there was much. Lacazette comes up with blood trickling down his face. Things like this by MOTD stick in people’s minds and players are unfairly tarnished |

I’m sorry but Ceballos is a weak link in midfield here. His touch is off, must have lost possession 3-4 times with a poor touch or pass |

A bit fortunate to get to half time level. None of our forward players have been able to get into the game in any meaningful way. Good performances from Partey, Gabriel. |

Pretty poor half. The 3 missing players are a big miss. We can’t get up and press their defence at all and the forwards are being asked to fight for scraps off hurried clearances. We cant play the ball out through the lines because of their press but also because we haven’t got enough ability to. That’s where Saka and Emile Smith Rowe are very good for different reasons, Saka’s ability to hold and roll a defender and Emile Smith Rowe ability to take up positions in those half spaces. The other way to beat the press is with some more purposeful dribbling, if the opposition know you won’t or can’t do that then men and space are a lot easier to mark. Beat a man in the dribble and there is the potential for the whole aggressive press to fall apart because someone has to cover which leaves their man free and so on and so on Martinelli feels like a change that needs to be made. I’d also be tempted for Elneny for Ceballos because elneny is poor press resistant in my view |
