It is games like this where as a fan you're desperate for one of our lads to go crunching in to them and really match them up physically, but I've seen that game before and we get carded immediately for any kind of physicality. We simply can't win in away games like this. Any physicality by us will have 52,000 fans on a weak refs back, ditto any foul given against Newcastle. |

Not sure what you can do here. Guimares is running literal rings around our midfield 2. Compare his first touch and distribution to them. He’s literally the player we are crying out for Martinelli maybe but who do you sub him for and how long do you leave it. Need Ødegaard to pull something out the bag here |

Credit to Tavares who had a very good half. Xhaka and Elneny have been solid. Nketiah is working hard and Saka looks dangerous. We’re still not only in this but capable of snatching a win. |

Pretty awful half. The only bonus is it is still 0-0. We need to hope Newcastle can't keep up the high press that we've struggled against. We've got no out-ball even though Nketiah has looked one of our better players when we've actually given him a sniff of a decent ball. Feels like Martinelli is needed as you'd think he could get the better of kraft at full back and allow us to give them something different to think about with some added pace up top. The game is passing Emile Smith Rowe and Ødegaard by right now. Wasn't liking the protocol to keep the flag down on obvious offsides as Newcastle pumped lots of balls over the top and forced the delicate hamstrings of White and Gabriel to chase it unnecessarily |

That pass out from Ramsdale when the Newcastle got a touch on it.....it was a bit of a suicide pass from Ramsdale as well. in to an onrushing player, in his own box with a newcastle player breathing down his neck and no simple one touch pass for the Arsenal player. |

My issue when team press us so much is we are too often looking for the quick passes to play around it, we're being rushed in to making mistakes, often that pass won't be on or you're just passing the next guy in to more trouble than you are in. What you need to be doing is having the sense to protect the ball and take the foul from the over exuberant press, or be brave enough to dribble past it. A player running full speed at you is actually easy to dribble past as he finds it so difficult to change direction quickly. This is where we need a Cazorla type deep in midfield |

Briefly saw the White booking. 8th minute. Wide on left. Not in any way a goal scoring opportunity, not indeed the beginning of a breakaway. Not convinced it was a foul anyway but if it was, it was the first in the game. YELLOW??? Seriously? |
