The playing out from the back thingy

How many times has it been done without losing possession? Feels like less than half. Surely If your booting it long you must fancy your chances of winning possession 50% of the time from a knockdown.

I think he’s played quite well actually.

Stoke beat Villa 1-0 and if anyone's wondering Martinez was not in goal so still has a clean sheet for Villa.

The fee wasn’t his fault.

Elneny coming on. I'll happily be corrected but it isn't a change which inspires hope of finding a way to win the game.
We all know there are players that we need to move on, I'd rather see some of our younger talent playing these games than Elneny, Kolasinac etc

I can’t deny it seems a disastrous signing right now. My mate was saying he was Gervinho mk2 3 games in which I of course lambasted him for.

He’s got a great shot and decent left foot but his head is down and he doesn’t seem connected to play.

oooh Holding should score that. Pépé puts a lovely cross in, free header 6 yards out, middle of the goal and goes straight at the GK

All through the squad we're a really shot shy team. No one getting in positions or willing to pull the trigger, that's every game no matter who we're playing or who is on the pitch.

Kolasinac and Holding continue to give up really cheap possession.

There’s talent there but he just looks lost.

I really do find it sad.

He’s an excellent crosser, got a great shot and can dribble.

It’s just frustrating he can’t seem to find a rhythm or connection to the whole team in many games

no VAR in the league cup until the semi final stage. very tight offside given against Pépé there when he would have had a very good chance

Milner falls on the ball with his hand in the box, stops it running for an Arsenal player.

I'm also amazed how seemingly no Arsenal player is allowed to appeal to a ref without getting an immediate yellow card. Cédric booked within 2 seconds of coming up to the ref. I don't know what he said but it surely wasn't worse than the volleys of abuse countless players get away with every single game. We simply cannot remonstrate with a ref. Is it any wonder we pick up so many more bookings that other teams

ref bottled it. If that was the middle of the pitch and a player falls over and basically stops the ball rolling forward for the attacker with his hand it is a clear free kick.

Will the penalty shoot out be similar to last season’s League Cup game or the Charity Shield match?

elneny the first to miss in the shootout - it was the first poor penalty. its a 50/50 penaalty from Eleny because as soon as the gk chooses the right way it is almost impossible NOT to save that

Leno saves now!

Adrian got a huge hand to Willock's pen, it just rolled over the line, not sure it even reached the back of the net.

Still a lot of good teams left in but we're in the quarter finals and the records will show we knocked out Liverpool at Anfield
