For context.
Croatia FA were once fined £10k after being found guilty of racist abuse by fans at a game vs Turkey

Bendtner was fined £80k for displaying a paddy power logo on his boxer shorts after scoring a goal

So I suppose the end of season transfer budget is now 39 mil987k. Plus there is a need for new toilet rolls so I suppose that will be another 1k off the budget.

Indeed.

Our transfer budget is probably less than what Newcastle are talking about.

Best news upon waking up, Totts lost! And after going ahead. Long may they continue this streak of winless games.

Be interesting to see if MOTD highlight what Sissoko did today. Raked the Achilles of an opponent, shoved him then did that stupid head to head thing footballers do. Any one in isolation could be a yellow but when do you ever see a ref give two yellows for incidents seconds apart when their is a clash after an initial foul?

MOTD properly highlighted this. Awful refereeing- total cop out decision to book both players whenever there is a slight flare up between two players. Totally ignoring a)the initial foul and b)who the aggressor was.
I’d argue what Redmond did wasn’t a yellow and what Sissoko did was a straight red. This nonsense of just booking both players was how part time Sunday league refs worked when I was young, I’d expect stronger refs who understand the players better at the top level

Exactly. Pickford is a clear red. Denying a goal scoring opportunity without making a legitimate attempt at the ball.
Every week there are game changing decisions that are simple

I wasn't going to bother (Newcastle-Everton doesn't set the pulse racing) ... but there was nothing else on. And what a game it turned into. But really, you cannot have such ridiculously slap-dash officiating. The winning goal was offsides and throughout the game, Mason seemed to take the view that the rule book is no more than a rough guideline.

Wonderful the way Pochettino is backing his team and shouldering all the blame for their misfortunes. :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:

The sterling offside yesterday was ridiculous. I’ve seen people basically trying to explain why it was given. The theory being that sterling whilst in an offside position from aguero’s flick doesn’t become active as he doesn’t challenge for the ball. The Watford defender goes for the ball and ends up kicking it off sterling and in to the goal.
Obviously this is nonsense on so many levels. The defender only goes for the ball because he thinks sterling is going to get it and go clean through, it is not for the Watford defender to determine if Sterling is offside, play to the whistle etc. So because the ball is directed towards sterling and his very being there causes the defender to have to make a challenge he is offside. Sterling is affecting the play more than any of the other 21 players on the pitch but yet Lee Mason somehow over rules his linesman and gives the goal. Get this guy back to refereeing school.

I'm watching Saturday Night Live and Idris Alba is the guest host.
He just finished a skit as an ex player new pundit to Sky Sports and asked to give his opinion on the Arsenal vs Man Utd match among other things. Wasn't the funniest comedy I've ever seen but any mention of The Arsenal on national TV is always interesting.

Rich did you get the ref wrong, it was Paul Tierney reffing. Was Mason, incompetent as hell I'd agree, the 4th official?

Mason was 'refereeing' (in the loosest possible sense of the word) at St James Park.

Sorry my mistake, I must have still had Mason’s performance at Newcastle in my mind.
Not seen much of Tierney but Mason is generally awful.

Even though he wasn’t great in the NLD I think Taylor is one of the better refs. Michael Oliver is by some distance the best.

I’d take a point with our defence,

A win though would be absolutely huge for us.

Because he’s well past his best.

Emery divides opinion and just as soon as you start to get convinced he does something wrong however Benitez . Do me a favour ?

Taylor's problem is he swings both ways, one minute benfitting one team and the next the other. Most of his decisions are guesses and he always tries to be the good guy. liver he is not who does make the occasional mistake but is basically fair and an excellent reader of the game imo.

Spurs losing away, Chelsea drawing at home - huge opportunity for both teams at the emirates to win and pick up points on all their top 4 rivals.

Feels like a pivotal weekend

I hope Monreal's playing full back or it'll be a repeat of our last game with them.

Can't see how the midfield will be performing.....................

Another awful decision in the Liverpool game no allow Burnley’s first goal. The Burnley players are all over the gk, one pins him down so he can’t jump

Perhaps. In any case, I'm glad to see Ramsey, Özil, Aubameyang, and Lacazette starting ... and Mustafi not.

Lukaku hit the bar before xhaka’s goal. It was easier to score.
Big let off because the first goal is often so important in these games

Sokratis booked for not actually making any contact with Pogba

Man U front two still look very dangerous

Poor from the ref again. Lovely flowing move from Man U, ended by a brilliant tackle by Xhaka I think, rashford was about to strike it and struck Xhaka instead, that alone could have been a yellow but then Arsenal are on the counter with 6/7 Man U players ahead of the ball. Ref brings it back for the arsenal free kick in our own box. So frustrating. It wasn’t a head injury either

Good solid performance by our lads today. Keep it up for the 2nd half.

Xhaka! A well taken goal.

We've played great but the big worry is that United have still created big chances. Monreal and AMN must not be caught high up the pitch or United are in on goal every time they attack.

It's a shame we couldn't have bagged a couple more but that said United have probably had the better chances.

I think we've actually been a bit wasteful in terms of the final ball but some diabolical refereeing decisions have not helped.

Deserved half time lead but it is close.
Arsenal started quickly, 1st to every second ball and got the goal we deserved. Since the goal Man U might have edged it. Still very dangerous with their front two.

I must be watching a different match. Scrappy game so far but I'd say Man U look far more likely to score and more than 1.

I wouldn't bet on the scoreline staying as it is but you can't ask more than a lead into the 2nd half.
We need another goal. That I am sure of and even that isn't safe enough.
