A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is touched or played by a team-mate is only penalised for committing an offside offence if, in the opinion of the referee, they become involved in active play by:

I think John 1 is wrong it can be a deflection it can be an interception so not offside.

I think that the laws of the game would always have rendered that onside. It’s always been the case that the ball has to come from a teammate.

We look more like losing this than winning it at the moment.
