Hate to pull you up on this one, but Slough is no longer part of England , it has been invaded and taken over by thousand of Vlads!!! :icon_evil:

The Vlads (haven't got a clue who they are btw) are welcome to it. I look forward to its earliest secession.

Wasn’t it called Silver Blades or something? You must have lived quite near the railway line?

Yes, I had forgotten about the name of the ice rink. The local swimming baths next door. Both still there. The ice rink is looking rather shabby now it has to be said. There are plans for a redevelopment which will spruce it up a bit. Attached to the ice rink was a night club/disco called the Bali Hai or something like that. The council run swimming pool has survived various closure attempts.

Me and a couple of mates would go swimming every Sunday morning then get a bag of chips and coke afterwards.
Yes, our back garden backed on to the railway line from Streatham station. What else, the Cat's Whiskers by Streatham Hill, another favourite with the local's. Timothy Whites, Mac Fisheries, the John Lewis Dept store (Pratts). Odeon and ABC cinema's too.

ah memories!, as a fellow south west Londoner - from over the border in Tooting - i know these landmarks, well, the bali Hai had a window at the back allowing you took look over the scatters, ore even the Streatham redskins when they played ice hockey, the Redskins were the 'Liverpool' of their day (late 70's-80's) and were the best ice hockey team in the country for a few years.

The cats Whiskers was another favourite (probably still the Locarno in mee's day), particularly sunday night, they used to have a top 40 covers band and a DJ, and the revolving stage used to alternate every hour or so. I remember the odeon well, saw Ian Drury their circa 1978.

I recall coming out of a movie late one Friday afternoon (must of been out of work at the time) and seeing a coach stuck in traffic on Streatham High road, looked in the window and was face to face with Peter Shilton, I gave him the thumbs down and he mouthed f*** off back to me, i then saw Burns and Anderson and realised it was the Forest Team bus on their way to play Brighton, i guess it was 1980/81 period

Did you see that program on Frank Aitken last night, John? If you did, you would have seen my history teacher in school. Otherwise known as, The Doc.

Old Harlow, back in 1987... Mates wedding, someone had the great idea to dance in our pant's...

Take a look at Old Harlow keeping the Arsenal end up... Nice tie too, very nice, very tasteful...

Keith (Clifford Chance) showing a bit more, but it was his Wedding, Old Delboy the Millwall fan (Cameron McKenna) and nutty Mickey Pearce one of the funniest guys you'll meet...

After turning off those poxy smilies, your leaden attempt at humour is translated as "icon cheesy grin" - says more about you than a smily ever can, Lil.

The first two times did you get a message that said something like 'at least one other person has posted on the topic and you may wish to review your submission in light of that' (or words to that effect)? I've had that a few times now.

I got that but just clicked submit anyway. I thought it had appeared but was wrong. Might have been my connection though.

Please let us know if we can chip in?
