The best Arse goal in ages finished off by Saka.

I hope we learn from this.

The moment we’ve put Aubameyang up front their defenders have absolutely crapped themselves and have backed off. Pépé has done more in ten minutes than Willian all game

To be fair Willian has looked loads better since Pépé came on and we changed our shape.

The canned fan reaction is eery.

Anyway, we would have drawn this match at best last season. The Blades are a gritty, solid squad. They are playing well as can be expected, well managed.

Bum. Just when it looked like we’d have a comfortable end to the game. That’s their first league goal of the season. Let’s hope that they don’t add to it.

They've lost their first three league games without scoring a goal.

Could have done with another 15 seconds there. Aubameyang would have been off and away to put the ball into an unguarded net.

Not a lot of positives apart from the three points, we need to get better quick. Pépé with a very bright sub appearance, has to start next game. Saka good as well, deserved his goal. Gabriel looks like a very good signing so far, and I thought Ceballos was very good in midfield.

I only got up for the second half and we were okay good and bad in that time. It was like Pépé only had 5 minutes and scored a great goal and then reverted to form and totally disappeared. Well done to Saka. Must ask why being 2 up we bring on Xhaka. One of those performances that raises more questions than it answers. But 3 points is welcome.

Not that the situation would happen but if that was sheff utd breaking away as the losing team absolutely no way does the ref not let them finish the attack

Got away with it didn’t he.

When was the last time a player got a straight red for a bad tackle against us, or for violent conduct. That’s two already this season already.

The sheff Utd players launches himself through the air....so is immediately out of control and connects on Aubameyang’s shin with his studs. It is a straight red and we’ve had red cards consistently for far less!

This is my take on it as well. I sort of get the reluctance to play Aubameyang as the lone central striker, he's no target man and his passing is poor, but it's not like we're getting world class hold up play from Nketiah or Lacazette. Just play Aubameyang centrally to get him involved more, and start all three of Pépé, Saka and Willian - I can easily see Saka or Willian work as the front man in a three man midfield. Mixing things up is fine, but when we're playing this poorly it's hard to say it's justified.

Gabriel is going to be excellent for us. He looks strong and powerful. I like what I’ve seen from him so far. Already looks our best CB imo.

I know you hate refs Rich but criticising them for something that didn't actually happen is a tad unfair.

It’s a bit of a blind spot for Arteta, He’s trying to reward good attitude at the expense of productivity I think. Nketiah is an energy sub at best and the games when we start him typically pass us by until he comes off.

I agree with what you said, play one of Lacazette or Aubameyang in most games and play all 3 of Saka, Pépé and Willian to get more creativity in and around the midfield.

Underwhelmed by an uninspired performance but ridiculously pleased by the win. I suppose with players like Pépé on the pitch you always have a wild card chance of doing something like that but we need much more from him. Gabriel caught my eye a few times winning a few headers and clearances that previously would probably have been left for someone, anyone to take responsibility for. I'm guessing Arteta sees Elneny as a cheaper and more maleable defensive option than Torriera, but its clear we could do with an upgrade here, as against well organised teams he cant really progress the play.

You have to admire Nketiah's energy and concentration but he does seem like an Elneny equivalent. Okay as a back up or to fill a hole but not yet someone you want to rely on to turn a game.

Arteta quote. Sounds like he’s confirmed we are signing one player. Probably Partey like I said.

Arteta on transfers: "I am confident that we know what exactly we want to do. We are trying our best to finalise the deals we want, whether it’s sending people on loan or bringing someone in."

Agreed, comfortable on the ball too and there's a calmness about the way he plays. Doesn't seem to rush things.

United about to get a real tonking against Tottenham at home. 3-1 down after 30 minutes, and Martial sent off.

Tottenham have had their struggles too this season, and Chelsea haven't clicked despite a flattering scoreline yesterday. Leicester losing at home to West Ham as well. Top four is really there for the taking again if we just get our act together.

Good example of how absurd the officiating is in football today.

Yes. And in keeping with the standard of United’s defence.

If Arteta is really being honest (and it sounded like it) then it won't be because of money if we fail to make any signings.

on whether he expects to sign at least one player…
I don’t know. What I can guarantee is that we are doing our maximum for that to happen, whether we are going to achieve it or not, I don’t know.

on bringing in new midfield options...
I cannot discuss the players that we want but we recognise certain positions that we believe we are short in. First of all in numbers and then adding different qualities to complement each other and this is what we are trying to do.

on if he has a message for the Arsenal fans...
I think that I always try to be really honest and clear. Believe me that the ownership, the board, myself, are doing everything we can to maximise the resources we have to improve the team and to sustain and keep the players that are in this club to make this club successful. I have 100% backing from them. It's not just words, it's reality. Whoever knows me, if it wasn't like that I wouldn't say it but I say it because I feel it and it's true.

on financial restrictions...
Whatever we can do, whether it's ourselves or the owner, they are willing to do it to support us, to back us, because I feel that they believe in what we are trying to do.
