Yes - Xhaka standing still with his arm in the air playing the forward onside!!

And well away from the action so not actually contributing anyway.

This is going to be a long long 10 minutes plus. We’ve gone to sleep.

Oooooohhhhh yet again. Absent defence leaves Calvert-Lewin free to put it in our net. Fortunately he declined.

3 points. A win. Somehow doesn’t quite feel like it.

The heady heights of 9th place.

Everton look a much improved side under Ancelotti. So this is a good win. Squeaky bum time at the end, but we held on just about.

Phew. Everton came on strong at the end. Would have been awful not to win that. Played well in parts but lost our way. Big win

A precious 3 points but what on earth was that last half an hour all about?

You could have been excused for thinking Emery was still in charge such was the incompetence of our play in the second half.

Thank *%^@ for Aubameyang, that's all I can say.

They kept attacking from our right because Bellerin has lost his pace to get back. Mustafi bailed us out throughout the match. He has transformed into a reliable player :58big-emoticons:

Thanks goodness for the substituition, we needed to freshen things up in the midfield.

Thanks Aubameyang!

Eddie did well!

Xhaka wasn't poor at all. He is moving the ball forward and faster. Kudos to Arteta for coaching him on this.

Leno saved us from dropping points :53big-emoticons:

Mustafi morphs back and forth from solid to walking disaster more than any other player I've ever witnessed. He will end his Arsenal career (if it ever ends) being among the top outfield players with the most starts of his contemporaries.

Worth noting it was our 3rd game in a week whilst everton came in to the game off the back of a 2 week break due to the stupid staggered winter break.
All of the big teams have a lower average points tally for games immediately following European matches so every year for me games after Europe (when playing a team who hasn’t been in Europe) are all about just getting the 3 points.
If emery was still in charge I don’t think we’d have held out for the win.

Mustafi deserves credit. At present his place in the side is warranted. Nice also to hear the crowd chanting his name.

Yes note the very sudden drop off in Saka’s play. From unplayable and untackleable to suddenly much quieter and lots of mistakes. I thought he’s knackered and then the whole team looked the same. Makes a lot of sense. If it wasn’t for forced change I’d say change Eddie for Lacazette and let him have a blast, but Arteta put on Guendouzi instead with the clear remit to shut them down playing out from defence. Did work quite well.

Just watched Saka’s cross again for Nketiah’s goal. Such a simple beauty about it all, pace past your man, early whipped cross in to the space between defence and gk for a striker who is gambling and half a yard quicker than the defence for the first time finish. Not a very Arsenal type goal

Absolutely. Worth everyone remembering it for when he next makes a mistake. Defenders will make mistakes. Mustafi was a big reason we didn’t concede the equaliser in the second half. So many clearances.

If you could get the Mustafi of the last 3 games for 95% of the time there is no need to get a new CB.

I was relieved when Arteta put both Torreia and Guendozi in. We needed energy in midfield. Both are fighters too.

True, but if it is a brainless mistake, expect the criticisms to come. That's what we fans do well :42laughter:

There are still a couple of people who are having trouble staying logged in to the forum.

When the PHP Sessions table crashed, it created a problem with some users 'cookies'.
If you delete the board cookies from your browser then relog back in, it should be ok.

Also, ensure you are logging in via this link : index.php
as this link is the secure SSL one.

The 'sessions table' keeps track of who is logged in and whatnot and when it crashed, it lost track of things.

Mikel is doing a wonderful job , but he can't fix everything immediately . Never mind Leipzig nearly every other team in the Premeir League moves the ball better than we do ; the reason we are mid table instead of relegation zone is down to the fact we have very good strikers .

I'm always buoyed when the ball goes to the left because Saka has yet to learn this f***** irrritating sideways / sideways / back that Xhaka , Luiz , Sokratis Mustafi , Bellerin and Kolasinac serve up.

Even Aubameyang on the right in many instances received the ball and passed it straight back to whoever passed it to him . Thierry would have turned and had a go at the defence .

I heard the commentator say our pass completion rate was a lot higher than Olympiacos ...no bloody wonder , the back four touch the ball about twenty times more than the attack .

Always liked your candor. With you saying it, I need not say it. And you say it better than me :42laughter:

While I really admire you being so candid about my candor :laughing7:

I'm happy for The Arsenal, Mustafi is playing better but all I see this as is our being able to sell him easier in the summer. He's still at a very good age, let him do that for someone else and lets give those wages to some other defender we buy.
