Same here. Started feeling unwell on Friday evening when I was gigging. Nothing too drastic, aches, pains coughing and bit of a temp. I work from home anyway during the week so doesn't really change much for me.

Wishing you all better Bromley.

Speedy Recovery !

Best wishes to you Judith.

Darren and Brom, same to you and look after you and yours.

Plenty of fluids! (And by that I mean non-alcoholic - there's no truth in the rumour that vodka/gin/rum deactivate the virus - someone best let kiwipete know!!).

I really love these old stories (not all are that old obviously). On another note, a very elderly uncle of mine who has cancer and who I told i was into football spoke of a visit he made to England late 50s, early 60s and became a temporary Wolves fan. Interesting about him. Never knew that. But he said he'll look out for The Arsenal from now on.

American dictatorship in the making?

By law, we have a presidential election on the first Tuesday in November every 4 years. This year its November 3rd. I tend to read a lot of information from sites that are not too 'tin foil hat' worthy but reasoned, ideologically indifferent.

What if....what if the virus' reach gets worse which is likely and Trump suspends the election? His reasoning is obvious. People can't meet in public places, it won't be a free and fair election. He will have likely have an even lower approval rating by November as the recession (or depression by that time) really kicks in. The Democrats fight back. Trump goes to the courts and the Supreme Court has a conservative majority right now. They back him. Stay with me here...legal dictatorship. Indefinitely as the virus can be used for all manner of things to strengthen power and do pretty much whatever he wants. Doesn't matter how many Democrats get voted in the Congress.IF there is an election.

If you read the post I didn’t say complete socialism was the answer you Wally. Actually the opposite

Best of luck Darren & Brom. It sounds as if you have things under control but I sincerely hope it goes well for you and your families. There’s a part of me that envies you for getting it over with. There’s still not a single case here in Barbados but the last of the Americans and Canadians are leaving now. We leave on Saturday though BA have given us the option of an earlier flight. Can’t see the point of that though. Just have to hope that BA still exist on Saturday.

Just catching up with the forum.
Dec Sorry to hear about your father. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope things get better for him and you.
Brom/Darren. I hope you and your families are recovering well and that it is just the normal flu which will pass quickly.
Judith , 15 years!
What Steve did all those years ago resonates to this present day. As DHD eloquently(as ever) put it this forum transcends time zones and continents.
It is a bit like a fellowship and a group of people 'down the pub'.
We may never probably meet but I love being part of this forum.
The amount of times this place has been a healing place for a defeat or to vent some frustrations. Thank you Steve. God rest your soul.

Me....
I was 50 yesterday. Spent it with my Princess who is now 14(going on 24) and we also visited family. I feel very loved and appreciated. My Princess made me 4 layers of photos of us and the family which all turn into a box with several lids. As you take a lid off the photos all splay out. Was so touched , She went to so much trouble.
Been a tough time recently on a personal level. 18 months with a woman who you put your heart and soul into it(who seemed to be on the same page) and then dumped a week after valentines day....
Oh well as my Sister succinctly put it you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your true woman.
A lot of pain shed but i'm getting there day by day.

Thanks DHD. Presumably you are on your hols, with no cases there you should be fine getting home. Quite a few Brits are stranded in Spain under lockdown, waiting on a flight home. Safe journey to you.

National curfew is supposedly about to be announced if it hasn't already. This is an election year. Los Angeles suspended local elections. Let's say this expands to other cities, counties, states. Trump has precedence in terms of lower governments. Yes, I am worried about a dictatorship for an indefinite time. Were it Obama or even Hillary Clinton, I still wouldn't like it and would fight against BUT I at least trust them be far, far more level headed.

But Trump? :1cry:

What if this happens in the UK. Would Boris do the same? I don't know. I'd love to hear opinions. This crisis would affect elections I assume. Putin is getting permission to be President till 2036. I can easily see Turkey's Erdogon, Brazil's Bolsanaro, Hungary's Ader, to go that route for what I hope are obvious reasons. They were headed that way anyway. Had Netanyahu been in power, I would have added him to that list. Xi is already a dictator/authoritarian in practice if not in title.

Interesting times.

Tough. But all the best. Nothing I nor anyone can say to take away the sting of a broken heart. But all the same, time heals all wounds.

Share thoughts about the forum. Overall, more positives than negatives. Obviously had my trials and tribulations on here but I'm not going anywhere. No 'flounce' as you Brits put it. Partly to keep the forum going and partly for personal reasons to resist being forced off.

Times like these though, you hold the ones you love a little harder.

Best of luck.

This forum is a family. Dysfunctional admittedly to some degree but a family nonetheless if you think about it. Many of us, myself included, have been on here longer than personal relationships. Some of us have been in this 'family' longer than members of our own families. Specifically children. Some of us have had a relationship on here last longer than marriages. Like all families, extended included, some you like, don't like and are estranged from :1laughter: and fantasize of fratricide :7laughter: but will all come together over a bigger event, a title, a cup and a virus. :53big-emoticons:

If you genuinely feel this way why don’t you find peace inside your own mind and unblock everyone with a clean slate? Start again, there are no “trolls” and nobody has bullied you. You believe if someone shares a different opinion to you and expresses it they are a troll.

As it is you pump out incoherent and coherent clap trap depending on your state of mind and the purpose of a forum is to share experiences and provoke debate.

Clean slate and unblock everyone you big crackpot

Good post Top Gun. Since Greeny asked for him to be banned, he’s behaved a little better in my view. Although he has also annoyed when doing his bullied victim stuff. But disagreeing with someone on an issue is not trolling, as you imply.

The forum has never been about everyone agreeing with everybody. It shouldn’t be either. If it was, it wouldn’t be as great a chat room as it still is. Exchange views and disagree at times. That’s what the forum is about.

Judith, Best wishes to you and your family. I can't add anything to what has already been said but simply echo the sentiments of others. It is a wonderful forum and such a fine legacy of Steve's.

Brom and Darren. Speedy recovery and let's hope it is just regular flu and that your loved ones are not impacted.

David, thanks for your kind words. It sounds like you are already well on the way to moving on. Good for you.

For the league to be voided this season (or for any divisive decision) there needs to be 14 of the 20 prem clubs to vote for it.
On the assumption that voiding the season means no relegation, no title and going back to last seasons positions for European places then you are going to get the vote from any club threatened with relegation which could be the bottom 8 teams. You wouldn’t get Liverpool’s vote as it would mean no title, you probably wouldn’t get Man U or Leicester’s vote as they sit in champions league spots (if 5th gets CL) but you would get the vote of chelsea, spurs and arsenal - if we revert to last season for allocation of CL spots Arsenal get CL for finishing 5th.

It could happen.

The fair thing is finding a way to finish the season even if it is behind closed doors but who knows what’s going to happen.

Behind close doors would mean anyone involved, players, staff, referees, etc, have to be tested prior. In lieu of that, and no more matches, I'd like to see the season final table be what it was suspended at.

Great point about who would vote for what scenario.

Wow, don't know why but the whole 'End of the World' thing made me think of this place again after so many years. Being in self-isolation and full of red wine I thought I'd say hi. Hope all you Gooners are doing well.

One has to be optimistic! Best wishes!

Hi again Judith

One last thought - the sun never sets on Steve Gleiber’s Forum.

Some achievement, that.

Just catching up with the forum.
Dec Sorry to hear about your father. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope things get better for him and you.
Brom/Darren. I hope you and your families are recovering well and that it is just the normal flu which will pass quickly.

Hi DD - bit of a bummer, that. Hasn’t happened to me for many years but I remember (every time) when it did. I’m still here though.

Your Princess sounds like a gem. A nugget. A credit.

Get a shed. xx

This is a shocker for one reason. His age, 21. But he suffered from leukaemia, which fits with pre existing illnesses that lowered your ability to fight off illnesses

A belated happy birthday David and sorry to hear of your relationship break up. But your sister is correct.

Thank you Bernard

Happy Birthday David. You'll find your Princess. Yes, chin up. It's all good.
