The positive - we created chances... 5-4 to us perhaps?

I am convinced Mustafi is deliberately messing it up. As a seasoned professional, he cannot be so poor.

When you see our defence and the so called protection from midfield and add in that we will concede 2 goals to anyone in the league I’m left scratching my head why we aren’t in the relegation zone.

The current bottom 3:
Watford battered us, should have won and had 31 shots
Southampton our play is all game and should have won 4/5-1
Norwich now just picking us off so easily and 2-1 up

These are the 3 worst teams in the league.

Add in Newcastle who are hopeless and we only have 1 shot on goal v them.

This group of players deserve to be in the bottom half of the league - minimum.

Who was the last senior player arsenal signed who improved whilst being here?

Xhaka was too far from Cantwell... he tried to pressure Cantwell when he got the ball - too late already.

Xhaka's tracking back is like running through treacle, but we know that. Unless you have a Kante in there alongside him to cover the ground and put out the fires when he gets caught ahead of play then Xhaka is a liability.

I keep banging on about pace, it’s simply irreplaceable in the game. You can make mistake after mistake but your pace can get you back in position or hold up an attack. Literally zero tactical nous required, just pure physical attributes.

I think you could field a team of technically very average footballers but who all are lightening quick and physically strong and they’d do absolutely fine in the league if they just play to their strengths.

And therein lies the fundamental problem. No player at Arsenal should HaVE to have a certain player alongside them to cover their major weakness.
Even if we did have Kante then you’re asking Xhaka to play box to box - he can’t do that either.

Very disappointed not to see a more radical selection in the first place from Freddie.

The points that are hard to comprehend are just....The sheer stupidity of it all.

Our talisman striker being player wide right and isolated when you need him around the box .

Our record signing who plays wide right on the bench

Our problems in central defence compounded by bringing Mustafi back in the fold.

I’m not blaming Freddie at all but it’s like we are trapped in purgatory with the same stuff happening over and over till eternity

We play Brighton at home in the league next....then by my rating I think we play 10 games where I really can’t see where a win comes from before we play Newcastle at home. That awkward combination of very good teams coming to the emirates and us going away to average teams. It is a run full of defeats and a few draws.
We really could find ourselves in the bottom 6

2-2 was just about to say we’ve had so many corners today about time we did something from them!

The board should mandate that the next player (or two) bought MUST be a central defender. I don't care if Messi says he wants to come for 1 pound a week and buys out his own contract.

Another symptom of no pace and no mobility is that players like chambers, mustafi, Sokratis, Xhaka and Guendouzi are walking yellow cards every game

It would seem that we can let it goals at any time, usually about 2 in a game. And Aubameyang can score goals.

Plus ca change ...

Chambers is a very poor player. No impact going forward. Shaky when defending.

If you think a Mustafi Luiz combo in the centre is good enough for the premiership do you have what it takes to be a manager?

Looks like Saka coming on next. Pépé must be wondering what's going on.

To be fair. It is only two days since he left. Not likely to be mega different with the current bunch of players.

£72m very well spent. Just what the squad needed. :8angers:

I think Aubameyang is our only player who can consistently connect properly with a football when striking at goal

I don’t think any combination of our CB are capable of defending properly. Each capable of conceding 2 goals vs anyone

I've never been impressed by him. Not sure why he hasn't been let go frankly.

We must have the most inept defensive unit on the planet ... Chambers , Kolasinac , Xhaka . Mustafi . Luiz .
They look vulnerable every time Norwich have the ball .

As I watch this with the feeling that it’s like watching two lower half of the table teams it strikes me that if this Arsenal side were in the Championship then they would really struggle to get promoted.

Decent point in the end but not really that impressed with Freddie's selections. Playing two clowns together at CB is asking for trouble and why give Martinelli only 5 mins at the end?
