Hi

Most things can be disabled

Click "User Control Panel" - Top Right
Click "Board preferences" - on the left
Click "Edit display options"- on the left

The options are on the right and are as follows:

Display images within posts: Yes No
Display Flash animations : Yes No
Display smilies as images : Yes No
Display signatures : Yes No
Display avatars : Yes No

Hi

Which part do you find different ?
It uses the same BBCode that the old one does -I made it so it posts the same as well
- ( I did add a bar on the right though to neaten it up a bit.)

Rog ..

Rog, you've done great here mate... Forum page looks cleaner, Smilies will help as forumites can now use these to tag posts so no one get's the wrong idea (or do in some cases)... The ease on which to insert piccies is great... The Font colouring I like..

The site now gets a 9/10 from me, up from 7/10...

I asked that the other day. Think Rog said he was working on it. I think it could become quite a problem once the number of pages grow significantly and you've been away for a while, so hopefully it will get sorted.

When you post, you just use the browse box underneath the post box (If you wish to attach one or more files enter the details below) to search you hard drive for the picture you want... Select it and hey presto, you'll see it on the screen when posted...

The old forum is still fine to use for now - I think the more adventurous ones are posting here however. (and I imagine occasionally checking old faithful from time to time)

When the old forum ceases, I will try and add users posts counts into this forum so they can keep their old posting stats.

Take a look at the picture below, last matchy at Highbury... Just come straight left a bit from the Exit sign and there is Me and my Son, his first ever match over the Arsenal.

I have a Taupe (stylish colour) and Son had a denim jacket... Love the fact someone, somewhere took this this and got us so well...

You'll have to click on the photo to enlarge

Yes - Internet Explorer is not reading a piece of the Style Sheet correctly. (We always knew Internet Explorer was a piece of sheet all along !)

I will try and adjust it later - that may alleviate the disappearing avatars also. I'm using Firefox and all is ok in it.

Just wanted to check that using smillies will not compromise any security issues. It's just that I heard a while back that they could unknowingly cause a viral attack. Do not want to sound arlarmist, just wondering - thanks.color=#00FF00][/color]

Also (and without wishing appear ungrateful or to detract in any way from Rog's fine work) is there any way to tone down the colours a bit on here?

This forum doesn't support the 'get new post' feature out of the box but it is high up on my list of things to add (If doable)
I have added a shortcut to the last post made which is as close as I can get for now. I think that maybe a mod is necessary - there are nearly 3000 mod requests that people have made so far - I will keep checking back with them. I have had to do a lot of things manually as this software is so new (mainly this grassy skin colour scheme)

The yellow is the same colours that the old one has for quoting - I think most people will ease up on the use of colours unless they really need to highlite something. I am just replying to a few queries in here than will look at the style sheet and Internet explorers bold font issue next.

[>>>>>> :mr100_IsBruceLeeX: But how do I change the size to get it to 120 wide and 150 high pixels max? :help:

Don't know if you solved this. If not....

1. Make sure that image is actually saved on your PC somewhere, not just an image active at the time on some website. Make a copy of your image file (right click on the file-copy-paste somewhere nearby) and work on the copy.
2. If you have Adobe Photoshop or similar, right click on the copied image file, 'open with' Adobe Photoshop (or other....)
3. Image now open in Photoshop, assuming imaging programs work roughly the same....top left commands....
- Image - Resize - Image size
4. Panel pops up. Check the 'pixels' for dimension units, ensure 'constrain proportions' is ticked, as well as 'resample image'.
5. For portraits, change the width to 120 and see if the height has come down to 150 or below. If yes, then OK it. You're done. If height is still 150 or higher, decrease the width further bit by bit until you hit the 150 or below for height. Then OK it.
6. If you only have Paint as your imaging/graphic software
- rt click on image file-Properties just to check what pixel size your file is at the moment just to give you an idea of the adjustment you need.
- right click on the image file-Edit-(image will open in Paint)-(at command toolbar)-Edit-Select All
- move mouse cursor/arrow to bottom right corner of image-left click, hold down, push that corner in, approximating the sizing down you'd need.
- There'll now be a white border to one side of the image. Move mouse cursor/arrow to bottom right corner of the white border, left click down, push in the border to match the border or a bit less than the actual image. Let go.
File-save.
- Rt click on the image file again-Properties- now check that the size is what you want pixels wise. If not, go back to Step 6.

Whether it is Quotes or Colour etc, first you have to click/drag/select/highlight the words you want that feature done to, while you are composing. Then click the Quotes or Colour choice, font size choice etc

Hi

That one is hard to change - the reason being, it is an animated gif - Standard jpegs and gifs are easy to resize, but animated gifs are not. Each frame within would need resizing - I imagine there is a tool that can do it but none comes to mind at the mo ..

As a point of interest, I have made it so the forum will now create thumbnails of images if people upload large pics.

So, if you see an image that has been uploaded, hold the mouse over the image, if the mouse cursor shows that it is a link, click the picture to view a large version of the uploaded image. Images that are larger than 70 kb will also be thumbnailed, even though they might not be larger in size.
