You can, you have to resize it in Photoshop. That's quite easy, but your original is already a bit hazy (low resolution) which means you'll have to try to sharpen the image artificially. This means you have to work in layers and resharpen each layer in Photoshop and reanimate it as a Compuserve GIF (save for web).

To save your time for now...I've done it to your image and attaching it now below. If it seems OK, right click-copy it. Paste it on your PC somewhere and go through the user control panel-profile-edit avatar-browse to this new enlarged image you saved-submit....business.

Attachment below..

Don't know if you solved this. If not....

1. Make sure that image is actually saved on your PC somewhere, not just an image active at the time on some website. Make a copy of your image file (right click on the file-copy-paste somewhere nearby) and work on the copy.
- Rt click on the image file again-Properties- now check that the size is what you want pixels wise. If not, go back to Step 6.[/quote]
As an alternative... ask Rog, he can fix it real quick! :emoticon_mClapp:

Thanks Jamelikat for going to all that trouble. But he looks a bit scarey in that form, think I may leave him as is.

Yes it is a prefab! We lived in one on Streatham Common after the war, this pic was taken in about 1954, a few years before Spurs started thinking about the double, but I’m already worried about them. I also seem to have revealed my name as well, so it’s Alan Mee?

Hi

For those that don't have Photoshop but still want to fool with avatars and other images, have a look at this free, live online tool:

www.gifworks.com

I just did Johns with it -But I did cheat by re obtaining a cleaner copy of the original :icon_biggrin:

We moved to Streatham around 1970. Went to Granton Road Primary. Ah, memories.

Hi

That's an urban legend - Smiles are totally safe. They are merely Gifs or animated Gifs stored locally on the same server that houses all other pics.

The owners have put their spin on it by saying in case Benitez was thinking of quitting. Sounds like the Martin Jol saga all over again though maybe not as bad.

I think this means that Rafa is off in the summer. Unless something unexpected happens, like Liverpool winning the Champions League.

Richie - I went to a school called Sunnyhill in Valley Road. It was one of those high windowed, gothic style schools built in the late 1800s. We played our school football matches on Mitcham Common on saturday mornings because the school didn’t have a playing field. The school staff were composed of shell-shocked ex serviceman with the jitters, Goodbye Mr Chips oldsters with cotton-wool hair and hard-up students with frayed cuffs. It wasn’t a happy time and of course at this time the cane and the slipper were always close to hand or behind.

Anyway, DHD, how did Senderos play on Saturday? :icon_cheesygrin:

Also, have to register my disgust at the inclusion of an American smilie and there being no Irish representative. I trust this will be addressed and go straight to the top of Rog's 3000 strong list of requests as priority numero uno.

Just use this one, and put it inside those Img-tags, and you won't need a smiley. It'll look lite this:

I was tooling with the signature size - users _may_ have to make their sigs a bit smaller maybe - not sure yet ..

I will try adjusting it later

I know the one. School is still there. We were luckily enough to have our own pitches. Though I wasn't really into footy then so didn't make the most of them. My school was at the bottom of Streatham Vale. We lived just behind the ice skating rink. I recall having to take an empty paraffin container to the garage by Streatham Common station then lugging it home (full) on the way back from school so we would all have some heating for a few days. The school run, no such thing then! Not for me anyway. Left that school in '72 to go to boarding school where your apt description about Mr Chips isn't far off the mark.

PS. Is it me, but when I hit the submit button for the first time, it doesn't take it and need to submit again?

I noticed that BBCode is turned off for signatures. If it was turned on, wouldn't that mean that users could change the font size of their signatures manually, as to make them smaller?

That happens when someone has made a new post during the time you were typing, so that you can add a comment to that post if you want, or perhaps if that new post is an answer to the question you yourself were going to answer. Quite handy really!

Hi Warrior, further to my post in the chat box, my avatar is a trading card with a picture of Liam Brady, hands on hips and in the Arsenal shirt. Cheers.

I added BBcode back to sigs now - but I have made it so max size is 85% - maybe see how that goes ?

I was after a more global setting but that might do in a pinch for now I am just worried about the Bold and Italics now though ;-)

Hi there,

Why is there a new 'new forum'? Is there something wrong with the old one? Does this new one do anything different?
