Anyway, it appears that Özil is with us tonight.

Sky reporting that he has just tweeted

When I can't support on the pitch tonight, I will support in front of the TV in London. What are your predictions for the match? I go for a 4-1 away victory

He’ll be gone at the end of the season and that’s that. I won’t miss him, and players like Saka will probably ensure that for most.

But you’ll be reminded of him when you see his statue outside the ground. :42laughter:

Well that's ok, it'll be paid for no doubt by the millions all his tweets bring in, and the Muslim dollars and pounds flooding into the clubs coffers..

Utter tosser. Penalising any contact and yellow carding most.

No mugs, Vienna.

We edge them in quality but don't have a final ball. Someone is going to be sent off in this match possibly and it may not be completely warranted.

Partey looks good. We ain’t impressing overall though. 3 yellow cards so far too; that’s a worry.

Expect more yellows, reds and a pen or two.

And an away win.

EDIT

or maybe not

Truly dreadful. Utter gift.

In fact the longer the game goes the worse we become. Hard to see us getting back into it unless something changes.

In this form, Leno is too twitchy to play out from the back. It’s a combination of his previous cock-up and the opposition’s realisation that he’s a liability.

He’ll probably never be a natural with the ball at his feet. Just not one of his skills.

What about the earlier bit where he was up in their half of the pitch. Bizarre.

PEA with a perfect pass from Bellerin

BUT the real credit is to Elleny for threading the pass to Bellerin. He’s looking good these days.

Not really, but its the closest emoji I could find. Now that I'm thinking about it was he one of the Martinez supporters? I swear my memory is going. I don't have a horse in that race but I do recall the debate.

The ref is weird. Seems incapable of reading the game properly.

There was an early clue when he made the first half kick off twice.

It’s why I find assists an unsatisfactory measure of creativity. That was a really creative ball from Elneny which gave Bellerin a fairly easy assist.

Pépé also deserves credit for continuing his run and taking a midfielder with him so El Nenny can thread that pass

Agreed Bern.

I have never why a corner gets the same credit as a defence-splitting though ball.

Nelson with a lynchpin 1 minute performance there... Be interesting to see if he can impose himself in the managers mind to get some more game time

The best two players for us by a long way were Gabriel and Partey. They look like two fantastic signings already. Both look so comfortable and in total control of every situation they are in.

Partey already a cut above every other midfielder. Just seeing him for 90 minutes really puts in to light the lack of quality we've had in that area for too long. Noticeable how all the other players were always looking for him with their passes, almost giving him the responsibility and immediately trusting him with it.

Aubameyang and Bellerin certainly livened up things and helped turn the game in our favour.

Lacazette and Nketiah didn't have the best of games. This is becoming a problem for us in attack. I was surprised Nelson didn't start, he at least shows more willing to be direct and run at defenders.

Fantastic through ball from Elneny. He's a strange one Elneny, whenever I watch him play I get the feeling that he's often playing at the best of his ability and quite consistently so, but also feel that his ceiling isn't going to get any higher and we need more for a starting 11 player. In that sense he's sort of the opposite of Pépé. Pépé has more talent, a higher ceiling and when he is on it he can be great and shows that he can be a match winner and push us on, but isn't on it enough. Elneny is pretty consistent but he isn't the future.

Same reason a 35 yard screamer get the same credit as the ball going in accidentally of your arse from one yard out.

And Leno? You know our number 1 - how did you rate him. I have a rating but I don’t want to be accused of bias because I wanted him sold and to keep a player with good feet. I am sure he has inspired confidence in his defence for the future.

Yep tonight Leno made his second obvious mistake of his arsenal career.

2,

I can only imagine the reaction if he did something like getting lobbed from the halfway line in the parc de princes.

Exactly

Also it’s no justification as to why your 2 midfield players can’t get one off their arse either !

Chelsea at home last season and tonight. They’re the only two I recall that lead to goals. Are they the same two you’re talking of?

Rose tinted glasses. Second ha ha ha - you really are a card. The good thing is that no other team will focus on these problems in the future and try and shut us down. Maths not your strong suit - 3 bad errors in this game.

I was just sharing my observation and perspective, Ash.
Players come and go. Fans will get over it. Just like when GG got rid of Charlie Nicholas and Wenger got rid of Merson. My comments were more abt how the club could have handled the situation better in light of its ambition to be a global super brand on par with Man U, Liverpool, RM, etc.

Partey, our new magnet for balls going forward. And he carries it forward faster and with more purpose :53big-emoticons:

It was a bit of an ugly win but it was 1. an away win and 2. A good club needs to win all manner of games.
Partey is reminiscent of Vieira, meaning he showed he was going to be good for us from the onset.

Gabriel is solid. Can't wait for Saliba to be ready for us. While watching the game I was thinking what Özil could have done in it. Too bad. But it is what it is.
