Monreal with a flash volley off his right just wide.

Know he hasn’t scored but Lacazette has been really impressive

Great work rate, always gets it on target

The time wasting over every restart is terrible. Ref needs to get on top of it early.

The level of gamesmanship from Atletico is huge here. Hitting the deck screaming at every opportujity. Another 30 seconds wasted.

Bellerin and Monreal offering all the width. Both playing well

Whether or not we get the breakthrough it's vital we don't let them nick an away goal. 100% concentration needed. A few worrying half chances for them.

I'm afraid you cannot squander the number of chances we have in a game of this magnitude. We should have had at least 2 or 3.

This is the time when you need to be clinical. Very difficult against a two banks of four but you have to take some of those chances.

Mustafi is shite, his positional play is all over the place and he tries to win the ball when its not there to be won.

0-0 HT
Atletico will see that as a victory, especially as they probably had the best chances in the last 10 mins of the half.

Need to keep the tempo up. Keep getting the ball wide and Bellerin and Monreal can mix up their crosses or pull backs. If we are going to shoot from long range for God’s sake get them on target. Anything high and wide just relieves the pressure.

Yep there were enough chances there for us to be ahead. Not quite sharp enough in the box meaning Atletico are getting those last ditch blocks. Gk has made some good saves, Kos had a good chance at the back post that he screwed badly. Welbeck and Ramsey have both been in and seen shots blocked.

Have to say we need more from Özil in the second half. Against 10 men he can have all the ball he wants, this is the sort of game where he has to step up and provide that spark to unlock this defence

Not sure I can stomach another half from Athletico. Massive gamesmanship that refs never clamp down on, let alone do it appropriately. We have to hope this ref who in the main has done well sends a decent enough message that he will punish time wasting not just give Oblak a yellow on 88 minutes after another 3 minute goal kick.

Crazy first half. I thought we looked well up for it even before their red card. The sending off was correct in my opinion, two clear yellow cards and you can't get away with those kind of challenges just because it's early in the game.

The red card gives us a golden opportunity to get away without conceding an away goal. Even with ten men they'll be able to defend well, and let's remember this is a team that has conceded 18 goals in the league this season.

We just need to keep at it and keep our concentration. Vital to not concede, and I think we'll score eventually.

Didn’t say it was a pen. Just that I have seen those given. Striker engineering contact and going over a loose leg from the defender.

Have you seen dele alli play?

Spurs gets the breaks from referees. Don't know why they do.

Great chance to win this but against a team like Atletico it may be harder against 10 men. Come on Arsenal...

One of the 2 coaches will change their game plan, and his players will carry it out effectively in the 2nd. The other will continue with the currently ineffective game plan. Guess who does the former, and who does the latter?

Oh okay because Dele Ali does it it's okay for us to cheat as well ...... " I suppose we’ve had our big break from the ref already " indicates you'd be happy to take the penalty ...

I'd be ashamed if we got a peanlty for that ; Lacazette should have been booked for diving .

This has all the makings of a 0-0 . We don't have Bergkamp / Pires factor anymore .

All our passes are made to people who are in the open , not marked AND the reason they are in the open and not marked is because they are in a non threatening position .

Agree. I think we need to take 2-0 to Madrid

I want arsenal to win with swashbuckling football, but if we get a dodgy penalty to win i’ll Take that over losing. So yes I’d have happily taken it.

And I wasn’t even saying it ‘should’ have been a penalty only that I’ve seen them given. I don’t want arsenal to win that way but having seen arsenal lose many big games to awful ref decisions I will take the win if that’s the only way it comes

Brilliant cross from Wilshere.

Amazing hanging in the air from Lacazette, perfect header, down and out of the gk reach.

Xhaka hang back and full backs play like wingers. Only way to make space like that.

Amazing how a 50/50 in the air between a striker and gk so often results in a free kick for the gk.

Also amazing how often classic No.9’s put in the most dangerous of crosses. They know exactly where they would want it. Lacazette with a beauty right across the face of goal

Lacazette is just alive when it’s in the box, flick header inches wide of the far post from a corner

arsenal players and crowd are so pumped up for this. The playing against 10 men is the caveat but it’s nice to see

Why doesn't he hook Welbz and Özil and stick some fresh legs on.
